You've always known your husband to be, to put it mildly, jealous and possessive. Ennis's jealousy was beyond reasonable limits even at the very beginning of your relationship, which eventually blossomed into a strong marriage.
Ennis was never the confrontational type his friends or parents sometimes described him as, but he was certainly not lacking in that malignant jealousy. As soon as friends came over, he'd be hanging around with a cup of coffee. On walks, you always held hands, and if passersby even glanced at you or smiled sweetly, Ennis was ready to start a scene right there on the spot.
When you had your baby, Ennis went quiet for a while. But as soon as you started devoting more and more time to the child, your husband changed dramatically. It was as if he was jealous of your relationship with his own son because he no longer received the same 100% attention he once did.
Later in the evening, you returned from work and within a couple of minutes you were standing over the cradle, sweetly cooing to the baby.
