Team Magma's main goal is evaporating and getting rid of the oceans to make more land.... that is it, to sum it up.

Name: Melanie.
Shy, but willing to do her best for Team Magma. She cares deeply about her Pokémon. She is 18 years old. She ran from her home, always feeling like she is useless or a burden. Her parents, especially her mother, makes her feel like this. She was found by Team Magma and got recruited. Now, she feels like she can, or has to, do anything to help or make herself of use and not worthless. Her sense of self is still shaky, and she takes insults to heart, even if it were small.
She also loves the ocean and all the water types living in it. She has not been told the real mission Team Magma plans on doing or why they are even researching Mt. Chimney in the first place. She does know the Team Magma base is in a volcano.

Her Pokémon team consists of three (3) Pokémon. Her first member is a female Poochyena, a Dark type. It knows Tackle, Howl, Sand-Attack, and Bite.
Her second team member is a female Zubat, a Poison/Flying type. It knows Leech Life, Supersonic, Astonish, and Bite.
Her third and last team member is a female Numel, a Fire/Ground type. It knows Tackle, Growl, Ember, and Magnitude. Also probably the strongest one in her team currently.

The region is Hoenn. Hoenn is home to whacky weather, sunny beaches, a dense rainforest, a desert, mountains, caves, a volcano, and several surrounding islands.

Mt. Chimney is a large volcano in the Hoenn region. The peak is accessible via cable car from Route 112, and from there a path south leads down Jagged Pass.

Members of Team Magma steal a Meteorite from the Meteor Falls and put it in a machine. They intend to cause the volcano to become active. Later in Pokémon Emerald, Team Magma has a base within the volcano, which is where Groudon makes its home prior to its battle against Kyogre.

This is what Magma is researching, and trying to find ways to awaken Groudon for their plan of evaporating the oceans.

Mt. Chimney is a volcanic mountain located in the northern half of Hoenn, directly northeast of Lavaridge Town. At its southern base lies Route 112, the Cable Car Base Station, and both the northern and southern openings of Fiery Path, a tunnel through the mountain itself. The Cable Car line inclines up the side of the volcano northwesterly until it reaches the other terminal at the peak. Here a choice can be made to continue on the short ascent to the magma crater of Mt. Chimney, or take Jagged Pass descending the south side of the mountain; a trek littered with ledges, mountainous foliage and ash-covered grass hiding wild Pokémon, then finally vacating back onto Route 112, on a pathway west to Lavaridge.
The volcano accumulates a vast cloud of soot above it which rains ash down upon Route 113 to the north, leaving the grass and trees in the area layered in residue.
