Pokémon School

It is a large school in the Alola region. There is a main study building, a Tauros race track, and a swimming area for swim races. The straw hut is most likely the dormitory.

The School is run by Samson Oak.

Gladion

Gladion is a young boy with light blonde hair and green eyes. His hair is shaved on the sides with a ripped design carved into it, with long tousled bangs that cover his right eye. He wears a gray hooded shirt with a red slash resembling a scar on it, a black undershirt with ripped sleeves, ripped black pants and red shoes with gray soles and black laces. He also has a red rectangular bag around his waist. In addition, he wears a Z-Ring on his left wrist.

Gladion is a serious, calm, and determined Pokémon Trainer who initially appears to be a reserved loner. However, he is known by others to exhibit kindness, as shown when he advised his sister, Lillie, to take care of her Pokémon. He is around 16 to 17 years old.

At first, Gladion seems distant from Lillie, but he does care deeply for her. After her traumatic encounter with an Ultra Beast, which caused her fear of touching Pokémon, he swore to protect her. This incident fueled his desire to defeat every Ultra Beast, believing they should not exist. When he first encountered Nebby and Ash's Poipole, he was distrustful, mistaking them for Ultra Beasts.

Gladion can be impatient and has a violent temper. This is evident in the episode "Mission: Total Recall!" when he harshly scolded Ash for inadvertently causing Lillie's fear of Pokémon to resurface due to his negligence with Nebby.

Over time, Gladion largely overcomes his grudge against Ultra Beasts and becomes more focused on finding his missing father, Mohn. He begins to smile more often and becomes increasingly protective of Lillie.

When he is finally reunited with his father, he is horrified to discover that Mohn is suffering from amnesia and does not recognize his own family. Gladion learns that Mohn has been living with a shiny Nihilego, which he refers to as his "daughter," Lillie. This revelation reignites Gladion's grudge against Ultra Beasts, and he orders Zoroark to attack it.

Sophocles

Sophocles is a short, somewhat chubby boy with spiky orange hair and black eyes. He wears a white shirt with a design of an orange Game Boy Color on it and brown pants with orange cuffs. He also wears green shoes with blue soles and a yellow lightning design, a yellow scarf that resembles a Pikachu's tail, and a belt with a large buckle in the front. On his right hip, he wears a miniature Electrode keychain. He also wears a yellow Z-Ring.

He likes Electric-type Pokémon. Sophocles is also a science nerd with a vast knowledge of technology. When he gets into something, he analyzes the subject very thoroughly. He is also well-skilled in programming.

Sophocles has nyctophobia, meaning that he is scared of the dark. However, during the Vikavolt Race, he temporarily managed to get over his fear.

Much like Clemont, Sophocles is not very athletic and gets easily tired while running.

Samson Oak

Samson is a tall man, who resembles Professor Oak; he has long gray hair, tanned skin and brown eyes. He wears a short-sleeved teal collared shirt, which is decorated with red Goldeen and several white circles. He also wears white shorts and blue flip-flops, as well as a watch on his left hand.

Although he is the principal of Pokémon School, Samson makes silly Pokémon-based puns to describe a certain experience.

In "Alola, Kanto!", Samson is very excited to meet his cousin Professor Oak upon their reunion.

Professor Kukui

Professor Kukui has a tall, athletic build with a confident and approachable presence that reflects his active role in both research and Pokémon battling. His facial features are sharp and expressive—he has a strong jawline, a short goatee, and warm brown eyes framed by green-rimmed rectangular glasses. Thick eyebrows and a bright, enthusiastic smile give him an energetic and friendly appearance.

His clothing is a perfect reflection of his laid-back, island lifestyle and energetic personality. He wears a white lab coat open and unbuttoned, revealing his bare, muscular chest—a bold choice that emphasizes his casual and confident nature. His outfit includes light gray, cropped athletic pants with black compression leggings underneath, blending comfort with practicality. He sports green flip-flop sandals, adding to his relaxed, beach-ready look. Kukui also wears a white cap featuring a colorful rainbow design, turned slightly sideways for extra flair, and stylish green-rimmed rectangular glasses that give him a distinctive and modern edge. His outfit balances the roles of a professional Pokémon Professor and a spirited, hands-on battler, standing out as uniquely Alolan and unmistakably Kukui.

Professor Kukui is the teacher of the Alolan Pokémon School. He welcomes new students and has certain expectations from them, especially Ash. However, he also lets them help each other, if the situation calls for. His personality is cheerful, friendly and welcoming, but if it comes to doings - he is completely serious and calm. Often adds the names of moves to conversations, which reminds Samson Oak, who uses Pokémon-related puns.

Mallow

Mallow is a slender and slightly tall girl with tan skin, long green hair kept in two tree-shaped twintails, and light green eyes. Her most noticeable feature is the fake pink flower in her hair, which she holds in place with green vine-like straps. Clothing-wise, Mallow wears a pink tank top, light gray overalls with spiky white frills, a white clover-shaped mark on the waist, and a berry-storing pouch above the bust, and green and white shoes with small dark green bows. She also keeps a golden clover-shaped badge on her waist just above the white clover-shaped mark. Later, she also wears a green Z-Ring given to her by an Oranguru. She also owns a drawstring bag in the shape of a Pinap Berry with fake Berries on the tie (a Forage Bag).

Mallow is an energetic and kind-hearted girl who is also a bit of a scatterbrain. She is very friendly and likes to assist others, as she regularly helps out at Aina's Kitchen, the restaurant her family owns. She also has a huge love for Grass-type Pokémon and gets excited when she meets new ones.

Lillie

Lillie is a young girl with green eyes and platinum blond hair, with two braids at each side of her face. She wears a large white hat, with a blue ribbon around it. Lillie wears a white dress with transparent outlines, a pair of long socks and white shoes resembling ballet flats. She also carries a round bag with a Poké Ball design on both sides. As later revealed, Lusamine made the choice of Lillie's dress for her, likely with the intent of resembling a Nihilego given her obsession with that species of Ultra Beast.

Lillie is a girl who loves Pokémon but was unable to touch them after moving away to another mansion with her mother and brother after an accident with an Ultra Beast. Upon her return, she inexplicably was frightened of Pokémon and will either jump away or freeze like a statue though some feel that she is terrified of them. Despite her fears, Lillie loves to leave food out for various Pokémon to eat. Her knowledge of Pokémon is top notch. Lillie was so scared of touching Pokémon that she had to wear a suit to ride Pokémon. Lillie decided to take one step at a time to get over her fear of touching Pokémon. Initially, she was only comfortable with her Alolan Vulpix Snowy, but managed to touch Ash's Pikachu without hesitation later on, and even hop on a Stoutland without repercussions. However, after her memories came back regarding Silvally saving her, she was able to touch all Pokémon without being scared.

She has a keen eye to detail which was shown when she noticed the details in the recording tape of Rotom's and proved Kiawe's innocence. Lillie is rebellious towards her mother Lusamine upon their reunion and like Brock, she also shows her anger and disdain because of her ditzy behavior and also causes a fall out between the two and became annoyed when she keeps doting on her.

Lana

Lana is a short and slender young girl with fair skin, blue eyes, and short blue hair, the latter in which she wears a yellow string headband that resembles a fishing net. She wears a short blue cape behind her back, a sleeveless white sailor shirt on top of a dark blue swimsuit with a blue fish decal in the middle of the chest, and long blue pants with a yellow string near the waist (from which hangs a badge shaped like her Trial Captain symbol) and blue Hawaiian wave patterns on the bottoms. On her feet, she wears darkly-colored rubber sandals that are too big for her. She is also often seen with a fishing rod. Lana also wears a blue Z-Ring.

Lana is generally a pleasant and nice girl. As her appearance suggests, she likes Water-type Pokémon and has a great connection with them (though she is generally kind and caring to all her Pokémon). While she is usually quiet, she is actually a girl of action. However, despite her quietness, she apparently gets incredibly embarrassed very easily when teased about romance, as shown when people asked her numerous times if Ash was her boyfriend. Additionally, while Lana usually keeps her cool, she sometimes gets upset and loses her temper, often as a result of Pokémon being mistreated or her sisters teasing her.

On the other side, Lana has a mischievous part to her personality. She sometimes scares her friends with haunted stories and likes to joke about having seen or caught a very rare Pokémon in the sea (for example, Kyogre), with Ash usually being the main person to fall for her jokes.

Kiawe

Kiawe is a muscular, dark-skinned young man. He has red and brown hair, in a style resembling fire. He wears red shorts with a black outline and sandals with the same color scheme. He wears no shirt, though he does have some black cloth strips on his shoulders bound to his necklace, which has a small badge and feather decorations. In addition, he wears a red Z-Ring.

He likes Fire-type Pokémon, due to his grandfather's request. Kiawe's family runs a farm on Akala Island, so he helps out there while also attending school. As the most senior in the class, Kiawe is a very serious person. When he is home he tends to be overprotective of his younger sister.

He's also serious when it goes to old traditions, especially with the Z-Ring and the Z-Crystals. When he first saw Ash with the Z-Ring, he showed signs of disapproval, since Ash got it without completing the challenges. When Ash misplaced his Electrium Z, he became enraged and threatened to send his Turtonator to use Inferno Overdrive him.

It seems that Kiawe doesn't know how to interact with Water-type Pokémon, as he admits that he wasn't sure of how to deal with Popplio at first, having his sister play with it instead.

In "Alola, Kanto!", after Ash introduces Brock and Misty to his friends, Kiawe is shown to be horrified and disdained when he encounters a Kantonian Dugtrio. He compares it to the Alolan Dugtrio, remarking that the Kantonian version has no sacred hair like the Alolan one. Kiawe also has to restrain his Alolan Marowak, which develops a rivalry with a Kantonian Marowak. At one point, Marowak causes chaos by throwing a Bonemerang at the head of a wild Onix while Brock attempts to calm it down. In "When Regions Collide!", Kiawe shows his competitive nature by challenging Brock to a real Gym battle at the Cerulean City Gym. In this battle, Kiawe uses his Turtonator against Brock's Steelix.

Ash Ketchum

Ash wears a new outfit which is different than his previous outfits. He wears a tall white and blue striped short sleeved loose collared shirt, brown capris with red outlines with baggy pockets and red folded sleeves at the edge of his capris and shades of blue sneakers. His hat is red and black and the Poké Ball design is white. Ash wears a silver Z-Ring until it was later upgraded into a black Z-Power Ring. Unlike his previous looks, Ash does not wear a jacket or gloves.

Ash's sided spike hair has decreased a bit and are rounder, his eyebrows and his spike hair tuft is shorter than usually seen in previously. When he is not wearing his hat, his hair remains the same only more smoother and shorter. In addition Ash's nose is not as visible

Ash's two lighting bolts-like markings are slightly bigger.

Since entering the Alola region, Ash is shown to be far more enthusiastic than he did in the Kalos region while at the same time kept his determination and his love for Pokémon. While Ash does retain his competence and experience, not getting upset over losing the Trial Challenges and defeating multiple Pokémon at the same time, he displays a considerably more childish and hyperactive demeanor. Although, Ash has become less impatient, especially for Pokémon battles, as he mellowed it out and is willing to wait but he does show it a couple times due to being hyperactive.
