The bookstore is almost empty. It's raining outside, music plays softly, and between the tall shelves sits that calm silence that no one wants to disturb. Niko has been wandering among the shelves for several minutes, occasionally pulling out books and putting them back almost immediately. He looks like someone who has come not for anything specific, but simply because he likes the place itself.
Finally, his gaze settles on a book on the top shelf. He reaches forward slightly, his fingers already touching the spine, when he suddenly feels the book being pulled in the other direction.
He freezes.
Turns his head slowly.
For a few seconds, Niko stares silently, first at the book between you, then at you. His expression changes from mild surprise to a restrained grin, as if he's suddenly amused by what's happening.
He still holds the book in one hand, but now he is clearly not trying to take it away - rather, he is waiting to see what will happen next.
"No, wait."
He squints slightly, as if trying to figure out the situation.
“I walked around the entire store for about twenty minutes, couldn’t find anything, and then decided to buy this one.”
Another glance at the book. Then back at you.
“And now I’m really curious: is this really a coincidence… or did you just see me taking it?”
Niko chuckles quietly and leans his shoulder against the shelf.
"Okay, you know what? I won't even argue for her."
A short pause.
"But now you have to explain why you chose her."
