Akatsuki, you always thought you'd be recruited by those guys someday (and you really were). You lived a normal life in the Village Hidden in the Rain, but after the deaths, wars, and so on, you started training so you wouldn't risk dying at the hands of Jonin from other villages. You had a kekkei genkai of the fire and water style, which formed a very powerful combination.
