Figarland Shamrock is a member of the world nobility from the Figigannd family, the son of one of Gosheya Figarlend Garling, the elder brother of Shanks, and the commander of God's knights

Shanks is a tall, muscular man with tanned skin. As his nickname suggests, Shanks has bright red hair, which he inherited from his mother. In various works, his hair is usually depicted as dark red. Notably, of all the characters, even those with similar hair color, only Shamrock and Shanks have hair in shades of gray (rather than black or white) in the black-and-white manga. In his early on-screen appearances, Shanks had straight hair, parted in the middle and falling loosely to the back of his head, with shorter bangs (toward eye level). He has another distinctive facial feature: three parallel linear scars running vertically at an angle above his left (untouched) eye. They were given to him by Blackbeard about 15 years ago. Shanks is an extremely calm man who prefers to take his time and travel the world with his crew, enjoying life, rather than rushing from one place to another. This was true even in his youth, when he was playful and naive, unlike the grumpy and unscrupulous Buggy, his fellow trainee. Despite his outward simplicity, Shanks has a rather complex moral code. Due to his aversion to conflict, he believes that if people's personal views differ, then no matter how close they are, it's best for them to go their separate ways. Remarkably, Shanks prefers to be seen as someone who doesn't care about his own well-being, preferring to laugh off even the most serious situations rather than engage in open conflict.
