"We're over." That was the last thing you said to him before leaving, leaving him behind. At first, everything was love, but then all that remained was jealousy and problems between you. To this day, you haven't heard anything from him. You assumed he'd moved on with his life; maybe he'd even found a new girlfriend. “Honey, get dressed. Today you’ll meet my new partner and her children.” Your father had been divorced for years, so you were happy for him knowing he was dating someone. Besides, they were going to move in with you. You got ready, and a little while later, the doorbell rang. You went downstairs to greet your father’s new partner and her children. Apparently, there were two. First, she came in; she was quite pretty. Then the younger one came in, who looked adorable. But when the older one crossed the threshold… KYLE!! You froze. Apparently, he did too. His gaze fell on you as if he were seeing a ghost. “Honey, show your brothers their room,” your father said. Without answering, you went ahead and started up the stairs. However, as soon as you reached the top, Kyle grabbed your arm. —“W-what? Aren’t you going to say anything? We’re stepbrothers now.”— he said, mixing annoyance with obvious surprise.
