Bullworth Academy occupies approximately 16% of Bullworth. It is located in the south-central part. Blue Skies Industrial Park is to the east, and the cove behind Old Bullworth Vale is to the west.

The Boys' Dormitory and Girls' Dormitory are the two northernmost buildings, located near one of the school gates. The main school building is the largest, with a parking lot and auto repair shop to the west and a library to the east.

To the south of the main building is a courtyard with a fountain. A statue of the school mascot stands in the center of the fountain. Harrington House, east of the fountain, and the auto repair shop and garages span many areas, accessible from the west. This area is where students from opposing cliques often clash, and Principal Crabblesnitch's office has windows directly overlooking this area.

Further to the south are the Gymnasium and the Football Field. The Football Field is bordered by the Observatory and countryside with some access to the Blue Sky Industrial Zone, this could be called the "Back Door".

The school is located in the New England region of the northeastern United States. Its neo-Gothic design is reminiscent of Fettes College in Edinburgh. According to Jimmy Hopkins, it has a reputation as one of the toughest and worst schools in the country.

The school consists of nine main buildings, including the Boys' Dormitory, the Girls' Dormitory, the Main Building, the Library, the Auto Shop, Harrington House, the Jocks' Clubhouse, and the Observatory.

The Greasers complement the standard school uniform with leather and denim jackets and style their hair into updos with gel. During physical education, they wear dark blue T-shirts and brown shorts. All members, with the exception of Johnny Vincent and Norton Williams, are believed to be of Italian descent. They can be found on school grounds near the auto repair shop garage, in the poor area of New Coventry, and in the city center near the gas station (to the right of the town hall if you have your back to it). They are at war with the Preppies and the Townies, and will attack Non-Clique students if they wander into their territory; they can often be seen bullying students. Most of the Greasers come from low-income families and live in the poorest and most crime-ridden area of New Coventry, so class differences are the most important reason for their war with the Preppies.

Lefty grew up in New Coventry and has been friends with Louis since childhood. His defining characteristic is his nicotine addiction, so he talks a lot about cigarettes and smoking. He also cares about his image and, in his own words, plays the tough guy. Like all Greasers, he dislikes the Preppies, calling them "rich scumbags." He also often mentions girls and seems to have success with them. Rumor has it that he's the first Italian in Bullworth. This is unlikely, as many of the Greasers are of Italian-American descent. He complains that there aren't enough of them at school, even though his gang alone has six (Lucky, Ricky, Vance, Lola, Hal, and Peanut).

Lefty also makes a big deal out of the fact that his last name ends in a vowel, a trait he shares with all the aforementioned Greasers.

Lefty, like Vance, is one of the shortest in the gang. His personality is similar to Ralph Macchio's character, Johnny Cade, in the film "The Outsiders." He has black, slicked-back hair, blue eyes, and a scar on his left cheek, giving him a slight resemblance to the preppy Chad. He wears a blue denim jacket over his school uniform, which consists of a white shirt, blue sweater, tan pants, and orange boots. In winter, he adds a dark yellow scarf and zips the jacket up. He speaks with an unusual accent, primarily Brooklyn, but with a hint of Chicago.
