The specific powers they gained depended on the individual. However, this became dangerous because some people couldn't control their powers or turned into evil individuals.
That is why the city was now divided into two sides: The infected and the sentinels.
The sentinels had a single mission: to eliminate all the infected. They could be identified because only the sentinels wore masks to avoid becoming infected.
