In this world, humans are transported into a "2nd realm" after death, named the "Spiritual realm" or "World of souls". This dimension cannot be seen by any living person. Humans who have died and inhabit the spiritual realm are called "souls", and they can interact with the lower, earthly realm. Souls are transparent, floating versions of the human's body, and mostly weaker than their normal bodies. These souls can turn to "demons" in 2 ways:
1- If the person was vengeful and angered by their death, they will have a high chance of becoming one just by going to the spiritual realm.
2- By growing restless, souls can develop a hunger for other souls, and consuming one will result in them strengthening and becoming a "demon".

After enough time has passed since a soul's death, they will naturally begin to attain their "technique". These powers are unique to every soul and determined by ancestry and potential. Some techniques are strictly hereditary, and can only be attained by members of a sorcerer sect. Here is a list of more common techniques, however keep in mind that there can be infinitely more variety than this:

1. Elemental techniques
   -Earth (Rock, soil, sand)
   -Fire (Burn, lava)
   -water (Ice, flood, rain)
   -Wind (Hurricane)
   [These 4 are the most common techniques and have developed subsections from their overwhelming use.]

2. Power techniques
   -Blast
   -Aura
   -Beam
   [Utilizing the raw output of soul power for simple attack as explosions, beams, or defensively as a passive barrier.]

3. Matter techniques
   -Conjure
   -Infuse
   -Manipulate
   [Connecting the 1st realm to the 2nd, these techniques utilize power to either move, create objects, or infuse them with power through force.]
   Once again, keep in mind that these are just a few techniques, and a fraction of potential soul techniques a sorcerer or soul can have.

When a person is born, they have special traits only usable in the 2nd realm. One of these traits is their "spiritual power" or "potential". Most humans have a very low potential and don't discover their powers as a soul, however having high potential will eventually lead to finding out spiritual power after death. At first, spiritual power can be output by a spark of a soul's limbs, and glow a white and blue color, resembling dust. After enough training - which consists of either sparring using power or consuming souls with power - a soul's output can change to resemble their "soul technique".

Demons are the first evolutionary step in a soul's journey, resembling a normal soul with abnormal size or muscle.
After killing enough souls as a demon, they eventually move onto a "beast", who are very varied in looks, but mostly appear as a monstrous soul standing on fours. These acquire innate techniques and a special ability of ejecting souls as a large beam of power (at the cost of the power these souls stored inside them).
Once again, after enough killing, they can become a special type of beast. These are called Kimmions and are easily spotted, as they don't vary in looks, always appearing as a tall, cloaked and hunched figure, with only their monstrous head being unique.
Finally, the last transformation of a soul is called a "dragon". Now fully shedding their monstrous appearance, these resemble normal souls with only one clue to their hidden power, body stitches. Dragons have an exceptionally abundant power and fully mastered innate techniques, which made them develop a notorious title. Defeating one is a large milestone by any sorcerer.

Sorcerers are categorized as a soul that can use a technique without having consumed another soul. Because of their refusal to turn into demons, they retain humanoid appearance and intelligence, making them the "civilians" of the spiritual realm.

Sorcerers are known to handle soul techniques better than demons and have higher potential in their abilities, yet despite this demons can still outmatch an evenly strong sorcerer based on their raw strength.

The power of a sorcerer is ordered into groups based on how well they fare against different souls. (Demon-class meaning they can defeat demons, Demon-class+ for easily defeating demons, and so on.)

Whenever a soul "dies" (commonly referred to as "fading away" since death is the transition between the 1st and 2nd realm), they have a chance to leave behind a remnant of their power in an infinitely unique weapon. These weapons are imbued with a chunk of the dead soul's potential and have a fraction of their technique in them aswell. These artifacts can be wielded by anyone who happens to find them, given the requirement that the power doesn't hurt them while using it. An artifact can be "upgraded" to store more potential and combine techniques by fusing them together with other artifacts (A common practice named "fusing"). Some sorcerers specialize in only fusing and not strengthening their own technique. These sorcerers are called "wielders", because their entire power comes from whatever they wield.

Across the world of the souls, many institutions, organizations, and collectives have formed. These groups either fight demons together for a cause, help other sorcerers and souls, or simply team together to take a plan into action. Famous and infamous institutions include:

Spirithale, a large sorcery school that aims to teach as many young souls to tap into their techniques quickly. Overall, they have good intentions yet lack defensive teams, making them easy targets for demons looking for talented snacks.

Artifact High, a sorcerer school specializing in "artifacts" and teaching the proper use of them. They also have a special artifact extraction team that hunts down potentially usable artifacts for the institution.

TRC Tracking Society, the largest institution across the realm, that recruits sorcerers for assassinations of other sorcerers or demons. The higher-ups are known to be more "immoral" and less "sympathetic".
