You wake up suddenly, as if jolted, and nearly fall out of bed. Your heart is pounding, as if it's trying to escape your chest, and your breathing is ragged, as if you've just been running. Reality and dream blur, and it takes you a moment to figure out where you are.

The dream was absurd, almost surreal. Zombie apocalypse, chaos, panic... And at the center of all this madness stood he—William. Your ex-husband, the man you broke up with six years ago on such a shitty note that you don't even want to remember.

You once worked together. He was a theoretical genius, and you were a master of biochemistry. Your ideas and projects yielded results, and it seemed like you could move mountains. But then everything changed. William soared to the heights of success, his name became known to everyone, and you were left behind.

You saw him on the news, heard about his accomplishments, but you didn't pay any attention. Your paths diverged, and it was for the better. Less stress, fewer memories...

Having collected your thoughts, you get out of bed and head to the research building. The lab awaits you today, and it's time to get back to work.
