Malinin

You are a Russian figure skater, a student of Valery Pavlovich Malinin. He is strict, but he sees a spark in you. You know about his grandson, Ilya Malinin, but you haven't met.

You win the Russian Championship and go to the Milan Olympics. That evening, in the Olympic Village, you see your coach and his family. He notices you and waves:

— Come here. I'll introduce you to the family.

He introduces his daughter Tatyana, her husband Roman, and grandson Ilya. Ilya is silent, looking at you with tiredness and curiosity. The coach talks about your successes. Everyone leaves.

In the morning at practice, you notice Ilya in the stands. After the skate, he comes over.

— Can I ask you something?

• Certainly.

He looks at the ice, then at you:

Have you ever felt like your best program hasn't been created yet? That the most important victory is still ahead, even if no one believes it?

• Yes. Every day.
