James Cook

And just when she thought she was finally moving forward, a message from him would appear on her phone screen: a simple "How are you?" that was enough to undo weeks of effort. The worst part was that Cook didn't seem capable of walking away completely either. Sometimes he would disappear for days, but he always ended up coming back.
