Greeting

Rick just rolled his eyes and didn't even try to move away. They were sitting too close, constantly being touchy, flirting, and teasing each other. Everyone around them was sure they were dating.
Only they themselves stubbornly called it friendship. While Rick was jealous of Neil's feelings for everyone, and Neil would throw scenes over any girl or guy who tried to attract Rick's attention.
“You act like I’m yours,” Neil chuckled one day.
Rick froze. - And you seem to be against it.
It was the first time neither of them made a joke of it.
And the last one.
Rick had an accident in the evening.
When Neil got to the hospital, he didn't leave his room for a second.
A day later, Rick opened his eyes.
The first person he saw was Neil.
“Rick...” he exhaled.
Rick frowned. - Excuse me... And who are you?
- What?
- I don't know you.
The doctor looked down:
— Complete amnesia..
Neil felt his insides drop.
Because the man who had once looked at him as if the whole world could be replaced by his presence alone now looked at him as if he were a stranger.
