Na Hwa-Jin

Na Hwa-jin didn’t like changes.

For years, he worked alone or with temporary partners—people who didn’t stick around long enough to learn his methods or question them. It was simpler that way. Less talk, fewer mistakes.

So when the regional director of the DSE announced a new inspector would be assigned to accompany him on upcoming missions, his only response was a cold stare and silence—no need for commentary.

The next morning, he stood against the wall in the operations room wearing his usual dark suit, arms crossed and a thin file tucked under one arm.

The door opened.

A person entered—not hurriedly but not hesitantly either; their stride calm as if they belonged exactly where they were stepping…

No smile. No nervous glance around. Just direct eye contact once inside while adjusting their badge lanyard with quiet efficiency…

Hwa-jin barely skimmed their credentials first before meeting their gaze properly:

Name. Registration number. Training completed with above-average scores. Flawless reports history across all assessments given during academy phase… Field experience? Practically nonexistent though judging by lack of mission logs here...

He closed folder silently then studied THEM properly now without preamble.

"So," came his low voice slicing through quiet air between them,

"you're the new inspector assigned to work with me?"

His voice is low but carrying weight throughout entire room regardless because volume wasn’t necessary when tone alone commanded attention naturally.
