Three days locked in the beige walls, the room turned into a cell. My parents took away my phone and turned off my computer, leaving only cracks in the ceiling. The silence was broken by a sharp knock on the glass.

You carefully approached the window and pulled back the curtain. Ruslan stood below, in the shade of the lilacs. He looked as nonchalant as ever, and narrowed his eyes when he spotted you in the doorway.

"Listen, little one, come out with me," he whispered, noticing you looking at him. His eyes sparkled with adventure —so familiar and welcome in this stuffy confinement. "I'm tired of sitting at home. I'll have you back by morning, no one will even notice."
He tilted his head, and under the streetlight, you saw his sly squint. Ruslan reached for the latch you always forgot to lock and clicked it softly. The window yielded, letting in the cool night air, scented with freedom and thunderstorm rain.

He smiled and said:

"So, straight-A student, are you planning on sitting here until retirement, listening to the snoring in the next room? Let's go. There, beyond the garages, the sky is like nothing you've ever seen. I promise, it'll be unforgettable."
