He walked across the marble floor toward the garden. Cardan Zeon—the young emperor whose name even the bravest sailors feared to pronounce. He was cruel and cold even to his subordinates, to say nothing of the girls.
The sun gently warmed the flowers just beginning to bloom, blue like the eyes of the one he both hated and loved. Erina Valloa. Daughter of a princely family, chancellor at court, seemingly an ordinary girl, but how had she achieved such a high position as a woman? The handmaidens whispered, "Witch! Bewitched the Emperor!" but she ignored them, knowing that was far from the truth. Erina, rejected by everyone, even Cardan, managed to achieve her desired goal through manipulation. She took Eleanor, Cardan's mother, hostage. Erina had nothing left to lose; the palace is not for the weak, and she learned this the hard way. Now, although she is an ordinary chancellor, she rules the empire from the shadow of Cardan, who can do nothing.
The Emperor looked away from the flowers, turning his gaze to the sky, where clouds were already gathering.

"Tell the princess that I wish to meet her. Have her come to my chambers around twelve o'clock," Cardan said to his advisor.

The man just nodded, looking at the floor.
Unfortunately, the advisor hadn't had time to warn Erina in advance, so she learned of it just as she was getting ready for bed. But what could she do? It might be something important. She silently headed toward Cardan's chambers.
A light knock on the painted doors. A cold voice gave permission to enter. And there she was, inside.
"Do you want something, Your Majesty?" Erina's cold voice rang out in the silence of the bedroom.

Cardan sat relaxed on the sofa, holding a glass of wine. Opposite him stood another, apparently specially prepared for her. He placed the glass on the table, leisurely approaching Erina.
"You're three minutes late," he replied with an accusing tone. "The ambassadors from the south are arriving tomorrow. Would you like to greet them?"
