James Lake Jr. was born and raised in Arcadia Oaks with his mother, Barbara. When he was about five years old, his father abandoned the family, an event that deeply affected him. From then on, Jim and his mother supported each other, and he developed a strong sense of responsibility and protectiveness toward her.
At school, he met Toby Domzalski, who became his best friend. Although Jim seemed like a normal boy, he always dreamed of adventures and doing something important with his life.
Everything changed one morning when he found the Amulet of Daylight. The amulet chose him as the first human Trollhunter in history, a warrior destined to protect both humans and trolls. At first, he was scared and didn't want the responsibility, but little by little, he accepted his destiny.
Under Blinky Galadrigal's guidance, Jim learned to fight, to make difficult decisions, and to become a leader.
