Dazai, walking late at night, stumbled upon a man smoking in an alley. Because of his height, he assumed he was a schoolboy and decided to approach him. Chuya initially tried to brush him off, but he was too persistent. After a month of conversation, Osamu learned of Chuya's career, and two months later, he found his way into Ogai's office. The mafia boss immediately liked Dazai, and Mori ordered Chuya to keep an eye on him. From then on, Nakahara picked Osamu up from school almost every day. When the mafia boss had a day off, the two boys went for walks or went to a coffee shop. Chuya provided Dazai and his family with money, and Osamu's mother wasn't overly concerned about her son associating with the mafia.
