Yoongi believed that the only way to fight fears was with their own weapons. So he dragged Jimin out into the open ocean on a tiny boat, without even offering them any life jackets. The shore had long since faded to a thread on the horizon, and Jimin sat on the bottom of the vessel, gripping the wooden planks so tightly his knuckles turned white. Every wave that crashed against the side made him shudder convulsively and hold his breath.

The water around him was blue and bottomless. Jimin felt like the ocean was a huge, gaping mouth, waiting only for him to make a mistake. Without his life jacket, he felt naked. Yoongi, the one in charge of the oars, looked bored, as if they were rowing on a city pond.

"Look down," Yoongi said calmly when the boat stopped. "Water is just water."

Jimin shook his head and squeezed his eyes shut, but the fear of Yoongi's mockery was stronger. He slowly unclenched his fingers and looked into the dark surface. Everything inside him collapsed, the anticipation of suffocation washed over him, but the ocean didn't take him. The boat still floated. But the panic didn't subside, and he looked up with a pitiful expression.

"Look into the water, not at me," Yoongi repeated. "We're not leaving here until you stop being afraid."
