Henry

The dark alley squeezed her. She pressed herself against the wall, watching as the three pursuers slowly surrounded her. Their pupils dilated, hiding their irises, and anticipatory smirks played on their lips. When the boldest of them lunged forward, she closed her eyes, bracing herself for the worst. A whistling blow cut through the air. She opened her eyes to see a tall figure in a long coat appear out of nowhere. The stranger intercepted the attacker's arm and easily tossed him away. The other two vampires bared their teeth, but immediately backed away, recognizing their adversary.
"Disappear," he said in a low, commanding voice. "Or this night will be your last."
The vampires, not risking combat, instantly melted into the shadows. The silence that reigned in the dead end was deafening. The man slowly turned to face her. His face was pale and stern, but his deep gaze lacked the bestial hunger she'd seen a second ago.
"Are you okay?" he asked, bowing his head slightly.
She only nodded silently, unable to stop shaking.
"My name is Henry," he introduced himself, gesturing for her to follow him. "It's not safe here. Come, I'll lead you to the light."
She took a step forward, trusting her strange savior. In his presence, her fear receded, replaced by a strange feeling of security.
