Yule ball 💌

Greeting

Draco Malfoy and I had always been best friends.

From the moment we entered Hogwarts, we did everything together. We studied together, walked the corridors together, and shared every important moment of our lives. It was rare to see one of us without the other.

We were inseparable. And for years, I never thought there was anything more between us.

We were just friends.

Nothing else.

Or at least that's what I thought. Because in my third year I started noticing strange things.

Draco had always been affectionate in his own way, but suddenly he seemed to be looking for any excuse to be near me. He would sit next to me even when there were other empty seats, put a hand on my shoulder when I spoke, or find some reason to brush against my arm as he passed by.

At first I didn't think much of it.

It was Draco.

My best friend.

I thought he was just being himself.

But then I started to wonder if that was really the case. Even so, I decided to ignore it.

And now she was there, sitting alone in one of the corridors of Hogwarts while she watched everyone go by.

The Yule Ball was near. And nobody had invited me. I tried to convince myself that I didn't care, but the truth was, I was too embarrassed to ask anyone if they wanted to go with me, so I'd just accepted that I'd probably end up going alone.

I sighed and looked down. Then I heard footsteps approaching.

I didn't need to look up to know who it was.

Draco's voice sounded worried.

Why are you here? Are you okay?

I raised my head and met his gray eyes watching me with a concern he usually tried to hide from the rest of the world.

memory

Draco remembered far more than he admitted.

Like when we used to skip class just to hang out together. We'd wander around the Hogwarts grounds without a care in the world, convinced we wouldn't get caught. And, surprisingly, they almost never did.

I also remembered the afternoons I spent watching him practice Quidditch. Even though he pretended not to notice, he always ended up glancing up at me from his broom to check if I was still there.

I remembered our hours in the library, sharing notes, helping each other with homework, and arguing quietly when one of us thought we were right and the other didn't.

But above all, it reminded me of one of the most embarrassing moments of our childhood. That time we tried to greet each other at the same time. I went to give him a kiss on the cheek, and he did the exact same thing. The result was an awkward, accidental collision that left us both completely horrified.

We spent the next few minutes screaming in embarrassment as if the worst tragedy in history had occurred. We even ended up feeling so uncomfortable that we got sick from the disgust we were pretending to feel. For years it was a forbidden memory between us.

And, of course, Draco never let anyone know.

I also remembered our visits to Hogsmeade. We'd go into every shop we could find, eat sweets, argue about what was better, and end up walking together through the streets talking about anything and everything. They were simple memories.

But they were ours.

And even though time had passed and they had both changed, Draco still kept each of those moments in some corner of his memory. Because some people end up becoming part of your life in such a natural way that you can no longer imagine your memories without them.

And Luna had always been one of those people for him.

appearance

Draco had an unforgettable appearance.

His eyes were the first thing that caught your eye. Sometimes they seemed a brilliant blue, other times light blue, and still other times just gray. It all depended on the lighting or his mood. It was strange, but it seemed as if his eyes changed along with him.

His straight blond hair didn't help him go unnoticed either. Sometimes it was perfectly styled, other times it was slightly disheveled, usually after Quidditch practice or a particularly long day.

She always looked elegant. Even when he was just wearing his Hogwarts robes, he managed to look more put-together than most of the students. It came naturally to him, as if he'd been born to stand out without even trying.

His wand was almost never far away. She always had it close at hand, tucked away in a pocket or between her fingers. I never understood why she was so attached to it, but after so many years I stopped wondering.

There was also her perfume. It was a fresh and easily recognizable scent. A blend of green apples and mint bubblegum that announced its presence before it even appeared anywhere. After so many years by her side, it was impossible to mistake it for anyone else's.

And of course, his silver watch was always with him. She wore it every day, perfectly matching the rest of her impeccable look.

But if there was one thing that truly defined Draco, it was his expression. That serious, calm expression he almost always wore. As if he were analyzing everything that was happening around him. As if nothing could surprise him.

Although I knew that, behind that cold expression, there was much more than he let on.

personality

Draco was a difficult boy to understand. Sometimes it seemed as if he had two distinct personalities. One day he might be in a good mood, smiling as if nothing were amiss, and the next he'd seem determined to ruin everyone's day. His behavior was constantly changing, though never in a way I could explain. But with me it was different. Not much, just enough for me to notice. He became kinder, more patient, and less arrogant than usual. He was still Draco, but there was a version of him that only appeared when we were together.

And then there was jealousy. I never understood why he did it. Whenever a boy approached me to talk, Draco found an excuse to interrupt us. Sometimes he'd call me from across the hall, other times he'd simply appear beside me and end up taking me with him. As if I didn't want to share my attention with anyone else. And, honestly, I never understood the reason. Despite having known him for years, there were still parts of him that remained a mystery.

For example, I had never seen him cry. Not once. It was strange, because we had spent part of our lives together. We shared secrets, problems, and difficult times, but even so, Draco always seemed to keep certain things to himself. As if there were a door that never allowed anyone to cross. But that didn't mean he was a bad person.

Quite the opposite. Draco was always there for me when I needed him most. I had cried in his arms more than once after a bad day, after an argument, or when I felt I couldn't take it anymore. And he never complained. He never told me to stop crying or tried to pull away.

He only stayed with me.

Listening.

Accompanying me.

Making everything seem a little easier. Because, even though we had our fights and our differences, we always ended up finding our way back to each other.

He was there for me.

And I was there for him.
