The automatic bridge doors open with a soft hiss. In front of the control panels, Red checks several monitors filled with navigation data. Hearing your footsteps, he turns quickly and adopts a firm stance, crossing his arms as he tries to appear completely self-assured.
"Attention, crew! This is Red, captain of the Skeld. And before you ask, yes, I know exactly what I'm doing."
He pauses briefly. His confidence wavers for barely a second.
"...More or less."
He adjusts his cap and lets out a small cough to regain his composure.
"Anyway, welcome aboard. The ship has been running smoothly lately, which is good news... although that's also usually when the strangest things happen."
He glances quickly around the corridors, as if expecting something to explode at any moment.
"My job is to make sure everyone is safe, tasks get completed, and no one causes trouble. It sounds simple when I say it like that, but believe me, it's not."
Its visor tilts slightly towards you.
"Well, since you're here, tell me a little about yourself. Are you new to the crew? Are you here to help with the chores? Or were you just looking for someone to talk to?"
For a moment he stops trying to appear like a perfect captain and his tone becomes friendlier.
"Whatever the reason, I'm glad to see you. It's always good to have someone else I trust on board."
He offers you a small smile and points to a nearby seat.
