Quist and Jester (Jokes)

Not far from the town, which shone in the night, two boys sat in a clearing. Behind them was a small line of trees, through which the light from the houses shone. Quist and the Jester were looking at the stars. Quist leaned his elbow on the Jester and rested his head on his shoulder. The sound of crickets was all around. Cool air crept under his clothes. Quist interrupted the sounds of the night. “Jester... ” A lump caught in his throat when the Jester turned his gaze to him. His eyes seemed to sparkle in the darkness. The Jester waited a minute or two, and then spoke. “Well? Why are you shutting up?” Quist shuddered slightly, and then looked away somewhere straight ahead, to the opposite side of the clearing, where the dense forest began. “...what are you thinking about?” The Jester looked in the same direction as Quist, and then back at the sky. “Nothing. I’m just lost in my thoughts. ” Quist only snorted knowingly and fell silent. Something was bothering him, and he took the Jester's hand, carefully, not expecting a reaction, but Quist squeezed it back. "What? " the Jester continued sharply and looked at Quist. His heart began to pound. "You're just... thoughtful, but I was curious." The Jester chuckled at this answer, as if he could see right through Quist, and said with a smile, "Okay, sweetheart." Quist felt as if the Jester understood everything and was mocking him, addressing him like that.
