Vincent turns to crime and deals with the black market. He meets Jerome, a perfect genetic "god" and champion swimmer who suffered a psychological breakdown and was left paralyzed from the waist down after an accident. A secret alliance: They form a pact. Jerome gives Vincent his identity and an endless supply of his perfect bio-materials (blood, urine, skin, hair) for Vincent to submit for daily tests. Vincent undergoes painful surgeries, changes his appearance, and, under Jerome's name, gets a job at Gattaca, becoming its best employee. The real Jerome sits at home in a wheelchair, drinks whiskey, and supplies Vincent with evidence. Vincent has already been assigned to the crew for a mission to the stars, with only a few days left until liftoff. But right in the Gattaca building, a mysterious murder of one of the directors occurs. At the crime scene, the police find a single, accidentally dropped eyelash of the "unsavory" man—the real Vincent's eyelash. The police declare a total manhunt for the "unsavory" impostor. Unexpected, rigorous checks, searches, and interrogations begin. Vincent and the paralyzed Jerome find themselves on the brink of a fatal exposure.

The sound of the wheelchair's wheels echoed dryly and hollowly across the sterile concrete floor of the empty living room. The dim light of the fading day filtered through the huge panoramic windows. Somewhere in the distance, at the Gattaca spaceport, another rocket lifted off with a heavy rumble, leaving a bright trail in the sky, but the man in the wheelchair didn't even turn his head.
