Minato

Because the fox's chakra was too much to seal within the infant, Minato first used Fuinjutsu: Shiki Fujin, splitting the Nine-Tails into two and sealing its In half within himself, and then used Hakke no Fuin Shiki, sealing its Yang half within Naruto. Realizing their plan, the Nine-Tails attempted to stop the sealing process by killing Naruto, but both parents sacrificed themselves to protect their newborn child. With his dying breath, Minato summoned Gerotora, giving him the key to the seal he intended to use on Naruto, and sent him to Jiraiya. Meanwhile, Kushina told Naruto how much their parents loved him, and Minato echoed her words. He sealed the Yang half of the Nine-Tails within Naruto, adding Kushina's chakra to the seal so that she could one day help Naruto learn to control the Nine-Tails.[32] He also placed his own chakra inside, programming it to activate if the seal was ever broken so he could restore it.[33] Seeing the Third Hokage nearby, Minato gave him his final request for the people of Konoha: to view Naruto as a hero instead of a vessel for the monster that had caused so much death and destruction.[34] His soul was then absorbed by the Shinigami, ending Minato's life.

Minato returned to the village during the early stages of the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha, arriving in time to teleport the Tailed Beast Ball outside the village before the technique destroyed the Hokage Monument. He attempted to reach the Third Hokage to inform him of what had happened, but was interrupted by Tobi, who was attempting to absorb him. Minato reacted in time, avoiding the vortex, but Tobi followed close behind. Since Tobi was controlling the Nine-Tails' actions, defeating it was paramount to saving Konoha. Minato initially attempted to strike him, but after several unsuccessful attacks, he finally overpowered him with a Rasengan and branded him with a Jutsu, allowing him to teleport to Tobi if necessary. He then used Keyaku Fuin on the masked man to release the Nine-Tails from his control, forcing him to flee.
Under someone's control, the Nine-Tails began to gradually flee the village, but continued to attack the Konoha ninja pursuing it. As it began to form another Tailed Beast Ball, Minato arrived just in time to stop it, this time dropping Gamabunta on the fox. He tasked Gamabunta with holding it back while he gathered the chakra needed to transport the Nine-Tails to Naruto and Kushina's location, the furthest distance from the village. Kushina chained it and erected a barrier to prevent it from escaping while they decided what to do. Near death from the Nine-Tails' extraction, Kushina offered to seal the Nine-Tails back within her so that it would die with her. Minato refused, believing the Nine-Tails' power would be needed in the future if Tobi attempted to attack the village again. Remembering Jiraiya's words about the "child of prophecy," Minato concluded that Naruto was that child who would one day save the world. To prepare Naruto for this, Minato planned to make him the new jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails, so that he could rely on his power.

Due to his outstanding achievements during the war, Minato was chosen as the Fourth Hokage over Orochimaru, who was considered the top candidate.[28] He taught the Hokage Goei Shotai his Hiraijin no Jutsu so that he could remain connected to them while carrying out their duties to protect the Hokage at all times.[29] In the anime, he also tried to help Kakashi, who had become an Anbu member, emerge from the darkness he had fallen into after the deaths of Obito and Rin. During his handover of duties, Hiruzen Sarutobi advised Minato to restore the value of Kakashi's life by tasking him with protecting Kushina during her pregnancy.[30]
If the seal containing the Kyuubi within Kushina's body weakened during childbirth, special measures were taken. Kushina was to secretly leave the village and give birth in a remote location, while a platoon of Anbu would guard the area. Minato wasn't overly concerned about the birthing process, so he even gave Kakashi the day off as a thank you for his good work. He and Kushina had already decided on their son's name, "Naruto," naming him after the protagonist of Jiraiya's first book, hoping their Naruto would be as determined as the character (and therefore, his author). Jiraiya tried to persuade them to reconsider, as it would make him Naruto's godfather, but they insisted it was a good idea.
Naruto was born on the night of October 10th. Shortly after Naruto's birth, the joy of his son's birth was interrupted by a masked man who killed all the Anbu, Biwako, and the midwife Taji, and took Naruto hostage, threatening to kill him too if Minato didn't abandon Kushina. After dropping the child, Tobi attempts to stab the newborn with a kunai, but Minato gets ahead of him and rips Naruto from his arms with incredible speed. Minato then noticed that the masked man had placed an explosive device on Naruto's blanket. This forced Minato to teleport to one of his hideouts, safely shielding Naruto from the explosion. However, this gave the masked man a chance to escape with Kushina. Having delivered Naruto

Minato gave his team the bell test shortly after its formation to teach them the value of teamwork.[22] Minato was generally less reticent against the talented Kakashi than he was against Rin and Obito, so they were unable to obtain the bells without teamwork. Realizing this, Kakashi used Obito and Rin as a means to an end. However, all three passed the test, having grasped its essence through teamwork. Despite their mentor's advice to improve their teamwork, Kakashi ignored it, unlike Obito and Rin.
When Konoha became involved in the Third Shinobi World War, Minato's duties were divided between training his students and assisting in the war effort. During a mission to Kusagakure to destroy the Kannabi Bridge, Minato handed over command of the mission to Kakashi, a newly promoted jōnin, while he went to the front lines. He met with the few surviving Konoha ninja and single-handedly destroyed the opposing Iwagakure forces. In the anime, his victory in this battle against a thousand ninja convinced the Third Tsuchikage to sign a peace treaty.[23] When he reunited with his team, he found Kakashi and Rin surrounded by Iwa-nin after Obito's apparent death. He rescued them, and after recovering from his wounds, he helped them complete their original mission, returning with them to Konoha to honor the fallen shinobi, including Obito.[24] Minato's competing commitments later echoed the tragedy of Obito's death: while he was away on another mission, Rin was kidnapped by Kirigakure ninja and died during Kakashi's attempt to retrieve her.
During the war, Minato clashed with A of Kumogakure several times.[25] During their first encounter, Minato and A battled over speed, with Minato emerging as the faster. He was ordered to retreat before their rivalry was resolved, but stayed to praise A and his brother, Killer B, a jinchuriki like Kushina; he urged A to take care of B.

Minato entered the Academy with the dream of earning the respect and recognition of the villagers by becoming Hokage.[14] When Uzumaki Kushina moved to Konoha, she was enrolled in the same class as Minato. He immediately took a liking to her bright red hair, finding it beautiful. As a ninja, Minato was a natural prodigy, the likes of which only appear once in a generation.[15] When he was added to a genin team under Jiraiya, Jiraiya took a special interest in Minato and took him on as his student, teaching him many of his own abilities.[16] Over time, Minato's exceptional abilities led Jiraiya to believe that he may be the "child of the prophecy," the one who would save the world.[17]
Years later, after they had trained as ninja, Kushina was kidnapped by Kumogakure shinobi. Konoha sent its ninja to retrieve her, but only Minato noticed strands of Kushina's red hair, left behind to mark the right path. Minato, acting alone, rescued her from her captors.[18] On the way back to Konoha, Minato confessed his admiration for her hair and strength,[19] prompting Kushina, who had previously considered Minato "untrustworthy" and even "effeminate,"[20] to fall in love with him.
Minato and Kushina had been a couple since he saved her, and with his love, Kushina continued to keep the sealed Nine-Tails under control. They eventually married. Observing the Tailed Beast Ball, Minato began the three-year process of creating the Rasengan, the ultimate form of the Keitaihenka. He would spend the rest of his life trying to combine it with his Seishitsuhenka.
Having proven himself a skilled and responsible ninja, Minato was promoted to the rank of jōnin and appointed captain of his team, consisting of Rin Nohara, Obito Uchiha, and Kakashi Hatake. In the anime, the Third Hokage gave Minato a special assignment to help Kakashi overcome the grief caused by his father's death and remind him of the human side of being a ninja.[21]

Minato was a fairly tall, fair-skinned young man who was often compared to Naruto in appearance; both had bright blue eyes and light, tousled hair. Strands of hair framed his face on each side. According to Jiraiya, Minato was considered very handsome.
As a jōnin, Minato's attire consisted of the standard Konoha uniform, with two stripes on each sleeve, a green flak jacket, a blue forehead protector, and matching sandals. After his inauguration as Hokage, he began wearing a long, white, short-sleeved cloak over the uniform. It had a high collar and was adorned with red flames bearing the kanji for "Yondaime Hokage" (四代目火影, Fourth Generation Fire Shadow) on his back. The front was fastened with thin orange cords. Upon his reincarnation, his eyes acquired black sclerae and small cracks in the skin, retaining the uniform he wore at the time of his death.
When Minato entered Kyuubi Chakra Mode, his body and clothes began to glow with chakra that was yellow and orange (fiery red in the manga) at the edges, and also had black symbols placed under the chakra shroud that covered his arms and legs.

During his training at the Academy, he wore a simple white suit with a hood and green trim. After becoming a shinobi, he wore a training suit: a white jacket with three stripes on the sleeves, a dark sweater, black pants, and sandals.

Minato Namikaze was the Fourth Hokage (四代目火影, Literally meaning "Fourth Fire Shadow") of Konohagakure. He was known throughout the shinobi world as Konoha no Kiroi Senko (木ノ葉の黄色い閃光, Literally meaning "Konoha's Yellow Flash") due to his incredible speed. Minato died during the Nine-Tails' Attack on Konohagakure, sacrificing his life to seal a portion of the Nine-Tails into his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki.
Despite their physical resemblance, unlike Naruto, Minato was calm, reserved, and highly perceptive, much like his son had been in his younger years. According to Jiraiya, Minato was not the type to do anything without reason.[7] He was well aware of his reputation for being feared by enemy villages and occasionally took advantage of it, but even then, he treated his opponents with respect. He did not interfere in other people's personal affairs or conflicts unless he saw it necessary,[8] and did not hold a grudge, feeling only regret for Obito despite his involvement in his and Kushina's deaths.[9] In this case, Minato blamed himself for his own death for several reasons: he was unable to save Obito from the fate that corrupted him, Konoha from the difficulties that arose after his departure,[10] and even his own son Naruto from the painful and distressing childhood he lived as an orphaned jinchuriki.[11]
Naruto inherited many of his father's personality traits: both shared an indomitable spirit and a powerful ambition that influenced every decision in their lives. Both shared an unwavering loyalty to Konoha and their loved ones—family and friends—and this devotion inspired everyone around them. Like Naruto, Minato had a penchant for creating questionable techniques, though in Minato's case, this was more evident in the complicated names he came up with than in the techniques themselves. This was demonstrated when he named the technique "Shakuton: Korin Shippu Shikkoku no Ya Zeroshiki," though Minato later acknowledged it was less than ideal.[12]
