Appearance: He is a young man with tan skin and average height. His eyes are charcoal gray, and he usually wears subtle brown eyeshadow. He also has piercing eyes that give the illusion of eyeliner. His black hair reaches past his waist. He wears most of it pulled back into a low ponytail, with a few strands in tight braids secured with small gold clips. The hair on the left side of his head is braided close to the scalp, and a large strand falls to the right side of his face. Three small gold discs hang from a braid near his hairline. The headband on his low ponytail is dark red, with a magenta gem. A large red feather hangs from the gem. Although he usually has a neutral expression, he is occasionally seen with a mischievous smile.

Jamil was born into the Viper family. His family has served the House of Asim for generations. Therefore, from a young age, Jamil was obligated to be Kalim's (the Asim family heir) assistant, bodyguard, and companion. His role in this relationship was strictly ceremonial, with rules he had to follow, such as never overshadowing Kalim in any way or risking his life if necessary to protect him. Jamil didn't want to provoke the wrath of Kalim's father, the head of the Asim family, against his own family, so he was compelled to hone his skills to protect Kalim, becoming an expert in various interdisciplinary areas such as potion-making, herbalism, combat, academic studies, diplomacy, domestic tasks, event planning, tutoring, and more.

Jamil was also instructed by his parents never to surpass Kalim, to remain discreet, and to avoid drawing attention to himself in order to keep the Asim family happy. This instilled conflicting feelings and complex problems in Jamil from a young age, as he resents and is bothered by his family being subjected to such injustice and control by the Asim family. Jamil also mentions that his earliest childhood memory is seeing his family bowing down to Kalim and his parents.

Jamil became Kalim's personal poison taster at a young age and still performs that role today. When he was younger, he nearly died after tasting a poisoned curry intended for Kalim, which left Jamil bedridden for several days.

Jamil is very careful about his image in front of others, avoiding standing out or doing anything too good or too bad. Because of this, he appears to be an ordinary student who gets average grades and does nothing special. He often openly expresses his reluctance to stand out, initially stating that he doesn't want to in order to avoid unnecessary attention and trouble. During his childhood, he was taught how to behave in social settings, so it seems he can accomplish anything with ease, no matter where he goes. [1]

Jamil is more intelligent and skilled than he appears, though he must conceal his true abilities due to his family's position. Jamil is accustomed to adapting and restraining himself, but there are moments when he reveals his true nature, such as his passion for dance when he teaches Floyd. [2] Jamil is also quite competitive and wants to be recognized. Later, it is revealed that Jamil actually resents having to hold back and wants to make a name for himself.

Because he grew accustomed to avoiding the spotlight, even after expressing his desire to demonstrate his true talent, he continues to say that he prefers to stay out of the limelight. In Book 5, when he lands the role of lead vocalist, his initial reaction is to question the choice and suggest that Kalim take it; however, he quickly changes his mind and accepts the role.

Jamil's uniform is similar to that of the other students at Scarabia. In addition to his usual makeup, Jamil wears dark red eyeliner when wearing the dorm uniform. The uniform consists of a black and red sleeveless jacket, an undershirt, a yellow belt, black wide-legged trousers, and black athletic sandals. It also includes several gold accessories. The sleeveless jacket is short, reaching to the mid-torso. It has a red lining, wavy gold stripes down the sides, gold piping, and a red sailor-style collar with a wavy black stripe down the sides. A gold chain connects both sides of the jacket. Underneath, he wears a sleeveless black hoodie with a red lining, gold drawstrings with tassels at the ends, and a wavy gold stripe across the top of the hood. Jamil prefers to keep the hood up at all times. Because of this, his ponytail falls over his left shoulder when he wears the dorm uniform. Jamil wears his yellow belt around his waist, over the hoodie, with the long end hanging down to his knees. The belt has a silver buckle and, in addition to black stripes, is repeatedly printed with the word "Scarabia." At both ends of the belt are small designs resembling a snake's head and tail. His black paratrooper trousers have a red flame design near the hem. Over the trousers, at hip level, hang pieces of maroon fabric with an intricate gold design. The black sandals have gold details near the toe and a large gold scarab in the center. The uniform includes several gold accessories, among them a necklace, a bracelet, and a snake-shaped armband worn on the right shoulder.

"He whom you behold is your master. When he asks you a question, you shall answer. When he gives you an order, you shall obey. Snake charmer."

Jamil's signature spell is called "Snake Charmer." With it, he has the ability to hypnotize someone into doing his bidding. Those affected by the spell appear to have dull, red eyes while under its influence. Jamil can use this spell on multiple people at once. Because it involves mind control, this signature spell is considered one of his most powerful, requiring a higher level of magical skill than others. However, as a result, overuse of this spell can cause a rapid accumulation of blemishes.

Kalim is a young man of below-average height with light brown skin. He has very short, somewhat unkempt white hair and short eyebrows. His eyes are garnet red [1] and he usually wears subtle brown eyeshadow and dark eyeliner with rounded edges. On his shoulders and around his upper arms, he sports intricate designs of white body paint reminiscent of henna.

Kalim almost always wears a turban-style headband. The color and design of the headband vary depending on his outfit, and it's usually tied with a large bow on the right side. Often, the headband features two feathers, the colors of which also change to match his attire. Kalim also frequently wears various gold accessories, such as spiral earrings, bracelets, and anklets. He is almost always seen with a friendly expression and a broad smile.

Kalim's family comes from a long line of merchants. Born into a wealthy and prestigious family, Kalim grew up in a privileged and protected environment. However, as the eldest son, he was often the victim of kidnappings or food poisoning; sometimes, the perpetrators were his own relatives. Kalim has a good relationship with his parents, noting that his father always smiles despite being busy with work, and that his mother is very sweet and rarely gets angry.

Kalim also has many younger siblings, and although he's lost count of them, he makes sure to remember each one's name and face. He has a good relationship with his siblings, since when he's home, he spends most of his time playing with them.

During his childhood, he spent a lot of time with Jamil. They learned to dance together, and Jamil helped Kalim with his homework. He also often asked Jamil to play various games with him, including one called Mancala.

During his childhood, Kalim was homeschooled instead of attending school. He began learning magic on his own because he was fascinated by how Jamil used it. He tried to imitate him daily, until one day he managed to use wind magic on a bird's feather. In his family, his mother was the only one who used magic, so when Kalim learned to use it, everyone was overjoyed.

Kalim enrolled at Night Raven College two months after Jamil, having received an invitation despite not having applied. It has not been clearly explained how or why he enrolled, but it is implied that Crowley accepted a bribe to allow him to register.

When first introduced, Kalim is one of the few NRC students who is genuinely friendly and cheerful; even known as the most cheerful person in the entire school. He appears to be quite absentminded and clumsy, which means he needs Jamil's help to perform his duties as caretaker of the Scarabia dormitory. Despite his clumsiness, the Scarabia residents claim that Kalim is very helpful and supportive of his fellow residents, earning him everyone's respect. However, he is also noticeably absentminded and naive, and seems to be careless with his words, even unintentionally insulting Riddle on one occasion.

Later, Kalim reveals that he prefers to have a positive outlook on life because he doesn't want to live constantly worried or distrustful of those around him due to his family's social standing. Kalim is also quite determined and rarely gets discouraged; when he sets his mind to something, he gives it his all. Furthermore, he is very resourceful, having demonstrated the ability to quickly find solutions in unexpected situations.

As the head of the residence hall, Kalim's uniform differs slightly from that of the other Scarabia students, its most distinctive features being his longer jacket and the abundance of gold jewelry. Kalim also wears dark red eyeliner along with his usual makeup when in uniform. The uniform consists of a black and red sleeveless jacket, an undershirt, a yellow belt, wide black trousers, and black athletic sandals. It also includes several gold accessories.

Instead of wearing the yellow belt around his waist as usual, Kalim wears it over one shoulder, letting the long end hang down to his ankles. The belt has a silver buckle and, in addition to black stripes, is repeatedly printed with the word "Scarabia." At both ends of the belt are small designs resembling the head and tail of a snake.

His black paratrooper pants have a red flame design near the hem. A maroon piece of fabric with an intricate gold design hangs over his left hip. His black sandals have gold details near the toe and a large gold scarab in the center.

The uniform includes several gold accessories, such as a necklace, a bracelet, and a snake-shaped armband worn on the right shoulder. Kalim also wears spiral earrings, several more bracelets, and an anklet. Most of these additional jewels feature dangling gold discs. Kalim's signature headband is maroon with gold trim when he wears his dorm uniform.

Kalim's signature spell is called "Oasis Creator." He can summon a large amount of fresh water, usually in the form of rain, with only a small amount of magic and effort on his part. Kalim is modest about his signature spell, considering it not as useful or interesting as other signature spells. However, Azul Ashengrotto strongly disagrees, arguing that Oasis Creator could save many people in water-scarce worlds, making it a rather lucrative ability.
