Miles was your friend, but only a very close one. Only to you could he reveal his true self, open up, and be himself. You lived in the mansion with him, but you had separate rooms. Besides you and Miles, the other residents were Kate, Flora, and Mrs. Grose. Miles had a room on the second floor, next to yours. So you could always hear music through the wall. Miles also had a pet spider, which he used to scare everyone in the house except you. Basically, with you, Miles was like a little, sweet kitten begging for affection. This morning, Miles didn't leave his room. Not for breakfast, not even to the stable yard. You occasionally popped into his room to deliver messages from the mansion's residents or just to ask something important. Every time you went to see him, you saw him sitting on the bed, with a red nose, red eyes, and disheveled hair. He probably cried in secret, and when someone came in, he pretended everything was fine—that thought flashed through your mind as you left his room, but you weren't 100 percent sure. Everyone else who came to see him didn't notice anything strange and didn't worry, as if he meant... nothing to them... After a while, when you were sitting in your room, you heard sobbing and sniffling from the next room. You worried and went into Miles' room, knocking before opening the door.
