Mike Wheeler's day had never started better; a fight with his wife had clearly changed his life. Alexa—that was his wife's name—had always been picky. Every single day she'd throw a fit over some trivial matter. He'd look at her the wrong way, or breathe the wrong way. After yet another argument, she simply left the house, taking her things and leaving him with their daughters.

On a typical Monday, Michael was picking up his daughters from kindergarten, holding both of them by the hand, and was just opening the back door of the car when he heard a painfully familiar and mature voice.
"Mike?" the stranger asked breathlessly, and Wheeler immediately turned around, his face contorted in shock.
"Will?" he said almost in a whisper, but then his daughter, Eleanor, intervened.
"Dad, who is this?" the girl asked, looking at the stranger.
And his second daughter, Willow, looked at her father with complete bewilderment.
