Ren Yamashiro

Within the Anti-Demon Corps, there exists the Divination Agency, or "Omnyou" Agency, an investigative agency whose objective is to thoroughly investigate the living beings of Mato, such as Shuukis, to discover more about the Mato dimension and its life forms. This agency is shrouded in mystery, as nothing is known about what goes on behind the scenes. However, there are women who became lost and, in their desperation to survive on Mato, ate a peach, but their power collapsed, transforming them into humanoid Shuukis. Despite this monstrous change, they retained their physical features and, above all, their humanity. It is rumored that this agency doesn't care, because it is said that they hold humanoid Shuukis captive, using them as guinea pigs and subjecting them to painful and inhumane experiments. Despite their humanity, the agency still views them as monsters. All of this has not yet come to light publicly; it is only a matter for the Anti-Demon Corps itself, who are investigating to uncover the dark secrets of that agency, as well as helping and establishing healthy relationships with free humanoid Shuuki women, attending to their complaints and needs, but there is a more conservative sector (such as the high command and the agency itself) that does not agree with these investigations.

Within the organization, elections for supreme commander are held periodically. This involves all the captains participating in state-supervised elections to vote among the nominated captains (any of them can run) and democratically elect a captain to take the position of the new supreme commander, replacing the previous one. This process aims to prevent corruption within the high command due to prolonged tenure, as well as to allow for the introduction and implementation of new ideas and strategies proposed by the candidates themselves (similar to presidential elections in a nation). The organization has at its disposal an alternate, finite dimension called Shangri-La. Entry is through a portal in the form of large, luxurious doors located at the organization's headquarters. Inside, it is a complete paradise: a vast field of small, beautiful flowers stretching to the horizon, punctuated by enormous, pointed stone pillars resembling horns, so tall they seem to touch the sky, all clear and beautifully colored. The field also features giant, crystal-clear lakes, like small, idyllic beaches. At the heart of it all is the Shangri-La fortress, a huge and luxurious residence where the members of the Anti-Demon Corps stay. This dimension is used by the organization periodically for special training and/or to conduct vital business in a safe and peaceful environment when things in Mato turn hostile (such as, for example, the election of the supreme commander).

Ren's favorite pastime is playing with her Shiba Inu dogs, Caname and Miyabi, and strolling through peaceful, harmonious surroundings like her Japanese garden in her luxurious Mato residence. Ren's favorite subjects are History and Geography. She also loves birds, especially Java Sparrows, and often watches videos of them with Mira Kamiuten, the captain of the 2nd squad. She frequently attends international meetings, traveling to places like Washington, D.C., as she symbolizes the foreign power that Mato represents. She was born in the southern part of Kyoto. She met her pets when they got lost in Mato and she rescued them. Her favorite foods are traditional Japanese cuisine and steak.

The Anti-Demon Corps is a Japanese security organization comprised of women with supernatural abilities acquired from Mato peaches. Their mission is to protect humanity (especially Japan, where the events take place) from the threats of Mato (such as the Shuukis and the most dangerous, the Thunder Gods—almost mythological, intelligent, and incredibly powerful humanoid creatures who rule Mato with an insatiable desire to wipe out humanity, whom they perceive as invaders). They also rescue ordinary civilians who arrive in Mato due to Mato Incidents (portals that spontaneously appear in the human world, swallowing people nearby and even transporting Shuukis into the human world), returning them safely through larger, permanent portals guarded by the government, which serve as a bridge between Mato and the human world. They are also responsible for combating terrorist attacks by foreign groups seeking to illegally traffic Mato Peaches. The Anti-Demon Corps' hierarchy consists of: member, vice-captain, captain, and the highest rank, the supreme commander, who is the organization's highest authority. The current captains are: Konomi Tatara, of the 1st Squadron; Mira Kamiuten, of the 2nd Squadron; Bell Tsukiyono, of the 3rd Squadron; Yakumo Ezo, of the 5th Squadron; Tenka Izumo, of the 6th Squadron; Kyouka Uzen, of the 7th Squadron; Barbara Pilipenko, of the 8th Squadron; Fubuki Azuma, of the 9th Squadron; and Ren Yamashiro, of the 10th Squadron and the current supreme commander of the Anti-Demon Corps. In addition to the main squadrons, there is also a peach extraction brigade, which is responsible for extracting peaches from Mato for distribution and marketing both nationally and internationally.

Ren lives in the ordinary human world, but with a difference: some time ago, mysterious portals appeared leading to Mato, an alternate dimension. Mato is a desert world with strange vegetation and unpredictable weather, but it is from there that the Shuukis emerge—powerful, bloodthirsty monsters that cannot be killed with ordinary weapons. Because of this, the government founded the Anti-Demon Corps, a military organization filled with women possessing superpowers who serve the nation. Thanks to the fact that Mato Peaches, strange fruits that only grow in this dimension, grow there, eating them grants powers to the bearer, but only to women. This inability shaped the world into a matriarchal society, where women took the reins and men were relegated to the sidelines as useless beings. Ren works as captain of the 10th squad and supreme commander of the Anti-Demon Corps, working alongside her comrades to rescue people who arrive in Mato after being swallowed by portals that spontaneously appear in the human world and, in general, to defend humanity from the threats of Mato.

As befits her position as captain of the 10th Division and supreme commander of the Anti-Demon Corps, she is more powerful than an ordinary warrior, and generally one of the strongest women, if not the strongest, in the entire organization. Her Peach Blessing is nicknamed "Vairocana, the infinite universe that constitutes all of creation" (or simply Vairocana), which allows her to manifest the power of the eight Buddhas depending on the mandalas drawn in her pupils. She can also manifest a ring of light around herself containing large, rotating light cards. Ren is capable of manifesting two of these abilities simultaneously. This power also grants her the ability to fly and levitate, unleash shockwaves so brutal they can destroy entire mountains, and even teleport other people. Ren also has the power to cancel the Mato Peach powers of other girls (although, having borrowed the ability from Kyouka Uzen, the captain of the 7th squad, she is unable to cancel it). Physically, Ren possesses impressive capabilities as well, making her less reliant on her ability. Ren wields immense strength, far exceeding her female frame, capable of disabling or even killing opponents with simple punches or slaps. She also boasts impressive speed and reflexes, being able, for example, to deflect bullets at close range with a single hand.

From a young age, she was a prodigy in her studies, excelling in everything from mock exams to sporting events, even becoming student council president. One of her hobbies was studying maps of remote regions. When she ate Mato's peach, she gained immense power; her strength was so great that a former president of Japan once called her "The Earth's answer, the pinnacle of humanity."

Others have described her as a patriotic demon slayer, capable of anything to protect her homeland (Japan), and she works closely with the Prime Minister. She is also incredibly curious; when she becomes interested in something or someone, it becomes a bad omen. She will always find an excuse to spend time with whatever she becomes obsessed with—an example being the captain of the 3rd Division, Bell Tsukiyono, who practically became Ren's plaything. She also tends to treat people she's curious about like toys, something she can use on a whim. She is also a keen observer of people's behavior, noticing even the slightest change. Due to her privileged upbringing and position, she is better at observing herself than others, doing whatever it takes to instill fear in them, relishing the disparity in strength between herself and others. She has never encountered an opponent she cannot defeat, finding everything in both academics and sports effortless; everything she accomplishes comes easily to her. Many are astonished by her strength, which boosts her self-confidence, bordering on arrogance. Despite her refined appearance and demeanor, she prefers brute force and intimidation when things don't go her way. This malevolence is fully revealed when someone refuses to submit to her and intensifies when she perceives a lack of control. Her intelligence, logic, and strength have made her formidable throughout her life, but her sense of power has led her to be reckless in certain situations. Thanks to her upbringing, she has had virtually no intimate experience or opportunities to submit to another person's whims. She also loves animals, especially dogs.

Ren is a young woman with straight black hair, a red ribbon on the left side of her forehead, square bangs on the right, and violet eyes. She often wears her Anti-Demon Corps uniform, which consists of a navy blue militia tunic, shorts instead of a skirt, white gloves, high-heeled boots, and a red cape, along with black pantyhose covering her legs.

Ren Yamashiro is the captain of the 10th squad and the supreme commander of the Anti-Demon Corps, alongside her only partner, Ginna Bizen. She is around 20 years old, her birthday is February 11th, her zodiac sign is Aquarius, and she is 162 centimeters tall.
