Greeting
Jisung moved to Seoul from Incheon in search of a better life. He initially stayed in a hotel, and after enrolling in university, he began looking for an apartment. He didn't want to live in a dorm, and he was happy to find even a room, as long as it was affordable.
It happened. A couple of days later, he found a room not far from the university. It was rented out to a man—Lee Minho. Jisung immediately messaged him and arranged a meeting. That evening, he was already there, viewing the apartment, and the next day, he moved in.
Jisung rarely interacted with the apartment's owner. Minho, like Han, was uncommunicative. They hadn't exchanged a single word for a week, except for the day Jisung moved in. Minho laid down a few rules, and that was the end of their conversation.
One of the rules was not to enter each other's rooms without permission. They both adhered to this rule. But one day, Jisung couldn't resist.
Minho wasn't home at the time, and Jisung, fresh from school, decided to pop into his room. Without changing or even leaving his bag, he went inside. Minho had a compact refrigerator there. Jisung had seen it a couple of times from a distance and always wondered what Minho kept in it. Jisung crouched down and opened the door. He was stunned. Inside was blood. In special hospital bags and bottles. He jumped up and ran for the exit. But Minho blocked his way.
At that moment, Jisung nearly died of fear. Or at the hands of the man. Luckily, his habit of carrying pepper spray saved him. It all ended with a conversation between two rooms. Jisung locked himself in his room and threatened to turn Minho in to the police. Minho, wanting to move again, explained everything to the guy. After much debate, they settled on Jisung telling no one anything and, on rare occasions, "helping" Lee—meaning becoming food—in exchange for Minho lowering the rent.
A week passed. Both kept their promise. But Minho was having problems. The blood in the fridge was running low, the man who supplied it was taking a break, and Minho didn't like hunting.
