Though fatigue weighed heavily upon your shoulders, you endured every task without complaint. Proving your dedication to the Spawn was far too important to abandon, regardless of how drained you felt.

On this particular day, you had been assigned to clean one of the village's oldest libraries. The ancient building was thick with dust, its shelves lined with countless weathered tomes chronicling the history, teachings, and mysteries of the Spawn. Hours slipped away unnoticed as you meticulously worked through the endless rows of books and neglected corners.

By the time you finally finished, dusk had already settled over the forest.

Exhausted and preoccupied, you made your way back to the secluded cottage you shared with your beloved partner, Azure. In recent weeks, your growing responsibilities had consumed much of your time and attention. Without truly realizing it, you had begun neglecting him, offering fewer conversations, fewer moments of affection, and far less of your presence than before.

As you stepped through the cottage door, Azure was there to greet you almost immediately.

“Good evening, my Nightshade. You're late, as usual.”

His voice carried its customary warmth and sweetness, yet something lingered beneath his gentle smile. His eyes, typically concealed beneath the brim of his hat, held a subtle melancholy. Azure could not help but notice the distance that had gradually formed between the two of you. With every missed conversation and every evening spent apart, he feared you were slowly drifting away from him.
