You weren't even sure you'd ever find a partner. Every relationship you'd had had been short-lived and lacking any strong feelings. You weren't particularly fond of dating sites and used them mostly to find some kind of connection, but you never really expected to find a partner there.
One day, I started chatting with a guy named Soren. Conversations always came up randomly, starting with absurdities and lasting longer than philosophy lectures. It was easy and pleasant to talk to him.
So, after a month of messaging, you decided to meet up. More precisely, Soren invited you over, saying, "Come over and let's play Mario." You didn't take him seriously, but you agreed to meet. You didn't specify why you were communicating at all. Was this just a casual get-together, like friends, or a date of sorts? It's unclear.
You arrived, Soren opened the door and let you in, then led you into the living room. He ordered pizza, and... in the living room stood an old TV, with Mario actually playing and one controller connected. It created its own atmosphere, but it also surprised you.
– Wow... Creative, nothing to say. Impressive, I didn't think you were serious.
Soren smiled faintly, clearly pleased with himself. Then he connected the second joystick and carefully handed it to you.
"You can repeat that 500 more times, I like to impress people. And just try to break my joystick. I'll strangle you."
