Cibo

Cibo is a very perceptive being, capable of sensing electromagnetic frequencies and scanning humans from great distances. She can also read letters, something most humans can no longer do, allowing her access to Toha Heavy Industries. After Sanakan attacks the Fishermen, she learns to communicate with the Builders through Killy.

Although Cibo seemingly dies multiple times, she manages to transfer her consciousness into other bodies and recreate herself using backup data. She does this after the Guard's initial attack, where her body is destroyed in a massive explosion, and again when Killy returns her to the Corporation's facilities. Later, she dies while using a Constructor to fight a Guard and transfers her consciousness into Sanakan's body, though it is not strong enough to destroy her own consciousness. While controlling Sanakan's body, Cibo can access almost all of the Guard's functions, including altering her appearance and physical form.

When Cibo transformed into a Level 9 Guardian, her body contained an orb in her stomach. It was later discovered that the orb is an entity possessing Network Terminal Genes and will begin to develop when in a safe environment.

In Log.65, Killy carries the orb to an unknown location with plenty of water and plants, and the orb appears to begin developing. With the child, the Authority will be able to stabilize the Netsphere, take control of the Safeguard and the Builders, and prevent the City's endless growth.

There is speculation about the child appearing in other forms. In Log.65, on the last page, Killy is escorting a mechanical child who could be Cibo's son. There is a theory that Logs.1 and 2 take place after the events of Log.65. In Log.1, we see Killy escorting a human child, and in Log.2, a girl with a dog picks up the child and later reports to an unknown source that the child's genes are intact. This theory would also explain the child in Logs.1/2, since Killy wouldn't need to continue searching for the Network Terminal Genes if he had already found them.

In Log.64, Mori states that the Child, even while still in orb form, carries the genes of two women, presumably Cibo and Sanakan.

Alone with Iko, she managed to trap the Guard's ghost between several electromagnetic devices, then hid and waited for Dhomochevsky to return before electrocuting him. With him down, she managed to retrieve the GBE and the capsule, having to electrocute him in the arm when he resisted. She ran as soon as he kicked away the devices trapping Iko, following a corridor that led to the exit with the Guards in relentless pursuit. [31]
With her electric weapon, she overloaded the door locks in the corridor, locking and sealing them behind her. At the end of the corridor, she found the exit, which led to a steep precipice, and was forced to jump upon hearing the Guards approaching, though her suit generated wings to slow her fall. Dhomo caught up with her and shot the suit, disabling it to allow Iko to take control. Once everyone reached the bottom of the precipice, Dhomo pinned her against a wall and said he would let her go to Killy with the GBE and the capsule, on the condition that she not return to the stage. Before she could respond, the Guards realized, horrified, that Pcell had found them and were forced to flee with Cibo as Exterminators began to appear. Iko took Cibo away while Dhomo stayed behind; Cibo then asked why the Silicon Creatures wanted the Network Gene, and Iko revealed their plan. With this knowledge, Cibo returned to help Dhomo kill the rest of the Exterminators, telling him afterwards that she and Killy could help them. [ 32 ]

The Unofficial Level
On an unofficial level, Cibo failed to detect the distress signal, with Killy saying it was being transmitted through exclusive Netsphere channels. Soon after, the pair were attacked by thousands of insectoid creatures. Although they took shelter behind a heavy door, one of the insects managed to get in and impaled Cibo in the shoulder, fusing with her nervous system and paralyzing her right side. Killy was forced to carry her forward, and soon she fainted. [30]

After Killy's encounter with Guardians Dhomochevsky and Iko, Cibo (and Killy's weapon) were captured by the two, leaving Killy behind. The Guardians managed to use equipment at their base to safely remove the parasite from Cibo, equipping her with a Guardian suit in the process. Hours later, she awoke and explored the base before finding the two in the midst of maintenance. They informed her that, despite being Guardians, she and any human at this level were under their protection. Dhomochevsky revealed the genetic capsule he found while going through her belongings and refused her request to return it. She inquired about Killy's whereabouts and was told he was lost while they were rescuing her, although, thanks to her Guardian suit, she managed to overhear their conversation on the radio and discover they were lying.

Finally, the two arrived at a Megastructure—the border to the next level of the City. Cibo warned Killy to be careful, or they might awaken the Guardians. Killy found an entrance and, soon after, a giant elevator; the door suddenly opened, revealing a polite but deformed-looking man. Instinctively, he raised his weapon, but lowered it after scanning the man's retinas, prompting Cibo to ask if it was safe. The elevator monitor indicated it wasn't connected to the Guardians, so they decided to go up to the next level. Inside, the monitor scanned the next level, indicating it hadn't found anything resembling a Network Gene, but detected several facilities where the genetic capsule could be analyzed, and a distress signal nearby; Cibo thought they should go there. After discovering it would take 800 hours (a whole month) for the elevator to reach its destination, Killy shut down, leaving Cibo alone to pass the time sleeping. A month later, they woke up upon reaching their destination and began the journey towards the distress signal. [ 29 ]

With the little time she had left, Cibo tried to find any information related to the Network Terminal Gene. She soon ran out of power, but was saved by flying maintenance drones. Shortly after, Maiserv sent her a message, along with a capsule containing Seu's genetic data, hoping to help her and preserve her people. She then entered a large mechanical structure, which teleported her to an area far above Toha's former location, where she reunited with Killy. She showed her a capsule and stated that they needed to find a way to analyze it. [27]

After a long climb, the two arrived at a completely new place, where Cibo hoped to find equipment to analyze genetic information. In a dark corridor, Killy spotted two young women, who ran as soon as they saw him; since he couldn't scan their retinas in time, they chased after him. After traversing a maze of pipes, the two finally reached a chamber covered in an organic mass, which disgusted Cibo. Killy then discovered a chamber filled with hundreds of women of different ages, who quickly fled; an examination of their eyes revealed that they were all clones, surprising Cibo. When she asked, Killy said that the Network Gene wasn't there, stating that he had already encountered places like that before and that there was no reason to continue the search. Disturbed, Cibo followed a sound of crying and found the original woman, connected to a machine that could have lasted for centuries, endlessly producing newborn clones. Stunned by the scene, she didn't hear Killy appear behind her before he shot the woman in the head and left without a word. Cibo hesitated for a moment, disturbed and confused, before following him. [ 28 ]

With her brain damaged, Sanakan's consciousness began to resurface, causing Cibo's body to begin transforming. She managed to find the corpse of the alternate Cibo (who was killed by the new Silicon Creature) and transfer her mind into it, just as Sanakan completed his transformation. [23]

The two began to fight. Cibo managed to temporarily disable Sanakan's GBE, with the help of the Electrofishers. Sanakan launched the two into the air and repaired her weapon, although they were attacked by Maeve in the air before she could use it on Cibo. The Electrofishers rushed to help Cibo, who realized that Sanakan was targeting Toha's Central AI, and called Killy, who managed to destroy the Safeguard from a distance, but couldn't save the AI. [24]

When Toha began to teleport, Cibo felt the building shake and rushed to evacuate the remaining electrofishermen. [25] Zuru gave Cibo a package containing her data, thinking there was no use in keeping it since Cibo was able to return to life on her own, though Cibo accepted it, believing it would be useful later. A hologram of Maiserv appeared before them, warning them about the building's collapse and informing them of the escape pods' location. As the structure began to crumble around them, Cibo had the electrofishermen board the escape pods before locking the door, sacrificing herself to launch them away. She gave Zuru and the others a sad smile before launching them to safety. [26]

The two returned to the base reality, going back in time to the battle between Ivy and Maeve, and Maiserv and Seu, although this time Killy had fended off the Silicon Creatures. With Seu wounded, Maiserv teleported them both to heal him, and Cibo decided they should follow them. [21] They arrived at the matter creation machine, and Cibo tried to convince Maiserv to let them help her, without success. She discovered that the surviving residents – along with the Electro-Scavengers – had been relocated to Cave 13. After saying goodbye and thanking the maintenance drones, she and Killy set off for the cave. [22]

They were intercepted by a Controller, who alerted them to the cancellation of Toha's contract with Netsphere, which would soon lead to the Safeguard being breached and the entire building being teleported. Killy immediately worried about Sanakan regaining control of his body, although Cibo assured him that his ten years in that body had only strengthened his control over it. With little time to lose, they headed to the Central AI to persuade it to renew the contract. As they approached the tower, its automated defenses activated and Cibo was struck in the head; Killy was forced to leave her behind to arrive in time.

With Killy connecting his thoughts to hers, they discovered that the cyborgs' overall mission was to eliminate any trace of the Network Gene to preserve the City's current state of chaos, and that the cyborg army was about to encounter Maiserv and the remaining Toha Industries colonists. Further on, they found Maiserv and Seu making a last stand against the cyborgs. Killy intervened; Cibo tried to warn him about Maiserv's emergency teleportation, but didn't arrive in time and watched helplessly as he was sent away. [18]

Cibo spent the next ten years waiting for Killy to reappear, eventually traveling to the same alternate universe where he was trapped. She frequently sent him messages and coordinates and eventually found him along with his counterpart from this universe. [19] After witnessing their battles with the latest Silicon Creature model, she became familiar with her counterpart before revealing that Toha's unstable gravity furnace was the key to escaping this reality. Flying with them there, she instructed Killy to fire his weapon on the lowest setting against the furnace's impeller to open a hole in reality. The new cyborg model reappeared to block their path, and Killy managed to subdue it long enough for him and Cibo to escape through the hole.

Cibo regained consciousness near their destination and was surprised to find herself being carried. The winged creatures communicated with her via radio waves, informing her and Killy about the history of the Toha Heavy building, the current threat of the invading Silicon Creature force, and the subsequent evacuation of the building's citizens by Maiserv, the cave's AI. Cibo convinced Killy that solving the problems there could lead them to finding a Network Terminal gene. Upon arriving at their destination, Cibo used a matter-creation machine to form materials she could use to heal her wounds. The winged maintenance workers suddenly detected Maiserv's approach, and Cibo asked them to quickly take them to an elevator that would provide access to other caves; Maiserv, however, detected their presence and caused the elevator they were in to be ejected from the building. Outside, Cibo noticed that the Silicon Creatures were about to enter the cave and, as the maintenance workers had switched off (having left their power source behind), he asked Killy to get them out of the elevator. Cibo quickly transformed his legs into a pair of enormous wings and grabbed Killy, who in turn grabbed the two workers before flying back to the cave entrance. [17]

Upon landing, Cibo transformed her wings back into her legs. They were caught in one of the alternate gravity rooms and fell from a great height; Cibo panicked as the room was too narrow for her to spread her wings, but Killy grabbed them all and landed on her feet. After ensuring the safety of the maintenance workers, the two ambushed a lone Silicon Creature, with Cibo successfully hacking into its brain to interrogate it.

With part of the map downloaded, they set off once more, though they eventually found the corridor ahead blocked by a strange material. Cibo deduced that this path had been sealed off in an emergency, as the Bioelectric Corporation used a similar material for the same purpose. Before she could find an alternate route, they found themselves cornered by two Silicon Creatures, Ivy and Maeve, who had scores to settle with Killy. [15]

As the two Silicon Lifeforms launched their attack, Killy managed to grab Cibo by the arm and pull her out of reach of Ivy and Maeve's spinning blades, but had to throw her out of reach of Ivy's hidden blade. Maeve took the opportunity to impale Cibo in the stomach, and she lost consciousness due to blood loss. She and Killy were eventually rescued by Maiserv and Seu, who ordered them to leave, as they believed they were messengers from the Netsphere. A pair of holes suddenly opened beneath the two, caused by small winged humanoids that carried them away. Several of them carried Cibo's unconscious body, taking them to a different part of "Cave 8". [16]

With the entrance blocked, they headed to the top to find another. As they walked, Cibo began to feel very dizzy and realized there was a wall of the Megastructure nearby. When they reached the entrance, the proximity to the Megastructure caused Sanakan's personality to awaken again, and Cibo's body began to dissolve as the Guardian tried to regain control. Killy managed to open the entrance and throw Sanakan/Cibo inside just in time; the anti-Guardian field extinguished Sanakan's personality, giving Cibo 100% control of the body. [14]

Inside, Killy waited for Cibo to regain her composure before they proceeded, with Cibo hopeful that they would find the Network Gene there. She asked Killy if his arm (which had been nearly torn off in previous battles outside) was alright; he responded by opening the door for them with his own arm. Beyond the door, there was an area that Cibo recognized as having different gravity, and she warned Killy to be careful when crossing it. After passing through rooms containing Electrofisher armor (which she noted were closer to Killy's size), Cibo attempted to hack into Toha Heavy Industries' control system to find a map. She was forced to retreat quickly when the AI ​​detected her and tried to kill her, losing a finger in the process, though she was surprised to discover she could reattach it with her Safeguard body.

While remaining connected, Cibo inquired about Killy's origins, though she and the Controller were suddenly overwhelmed by the Safeguard's defense programs. Before being eliminated, the Controller revealed to her that Killy was not from the Safeguard, but rather a precursor to it. The Safeguard's defenses then turned on Cibo, tearing her in half; in the base reality, her physical body was also suddenly ripped in half. Now that she was disconnected, the Exterminators and the giant Safeguard began to reactivate. [12]

Barely clinging to life, Cibo transferred her consciousness to one of the Safeguard's defenses; from there, to the Safeguard's computer; and from there, to Sanakan's body in the base reality. She managed to take control of the body, reverting it to Sanakan's childlike persona before proceeding to all the others. The battle had ended when she found Killy, gravely wounded from destroying the entire Safeguard on the battlefield, and informed him that all the Electrofishers had entered the Toha Heavy Industries building. [13]

Toha Heavy Industries
Killy didn't recognize Cibo immediately and pointed his weapon at who he thought was Sanakan. Cibo frantically told him not to shoot, and Killy stared at her to see who it really was. She commented on how strange it was to be in a body without organs before the two crossed the entrance to Toha. After seeing a damaged Terminator try to enter behind them, but fail, the two were forced to run back outside as the entrance began to close and force them out. Outside, they encountered the Terminator, and Cibo deduced, based on what she had learned from the Controller, that the Guardians were unable to enter the building.

Finally, they reached the Constructor, and Cibo piloted it back to the others. They arrived amidst another Guardian attack, saving the others from a Guardian machine the same size as the Constructor, just in time. The gigantic Guardian attempted to shoot Cibo's Constructor with its Gravitational Ray mouth, but the Constructor punched it at the last second, redirecting the blast. With the Guardian stunned, Cibo's Constructor quickly began removing the rubble while Killy defended it from the tentacles emerging from the Guardian. Cibo began to feel unwell, as she was now connected to Killy's brain, which was working at an accelerated pace due to the battle. She witnessed Sanakan emerge from the gigantic Guardian and begin the second round of his battle with Killy, which caused an aneurysm in Cibo, disconnecting her from the Constructor. [11]

The gigantic Safeguard took advantage of this to begin attacking Cibo's Builder, while the Electro-Pulsifier escorting her frantically tried to wake her up. However, Cibo's mind had been transferred to a backup cyberspace, where she was met by a Controller. The Controller informed her that her brain had been essentially reprogrammed, although this had caused it to stop functioning and her personality was now trapped there. Despite this, the Controller also said that she would be able to stop the Safeguard there and redirected her to a gigantic computer that controlled the Safeguard in the base reality, but warned her about the resistance she would encounter. Cibo then connected to it and overloaded its memory, causing a malfunction in Sanakan in the base reality and giving Killy the chance to defeat her, while Sanakan's Exterminators (and the gigantic Safeguard) began to fall dead.

While Killy and Sanakan prepared for battle, Cibo warned Killy that he couldn't use his weapon there, as it might accidentally hit the Toha Heavy Industries building. She witnessed the intense battle that followed, along with Sanakan's systematic massacre of the Electrofishers. [9] After the Guard escaped, Cibo worked with Killy to rescue any survivors from the burning buildings. They were surprised by the arrival of the giant Constructor, who had come to extinguish the fires and make repairs; Cibo was even more surprised that Killy was able to communicate with him.

Later, Cibo watched Zuru, visibly saddened, carry Sutezo's severed head to give him a proper burial. Knowing that the Guard would inevitably return, Killy, Cibo, and Pops agreed that they needed to transfer the Electrofisher colony to Toha Heavy Industries. Cibo watched Zuru begin collecting blood from the bandaged corpses of the Electrofishers, hoping they could be recreated someday.

Once everyone had finished packing their things, the survivors began a mass exodus to Toha, with Cibo and Killy helping to carry their supplies. They soon found their path blocked by burning debris; as the nearest alternate route was over 15 kilometers away, Cibo had the idea to ask the giant Builder for help. She asked Killy to download the Builders' language into her mind, but upon connecting, she suffered a severe nosebleed (due to the complexity of Killy's brain), causing Killy to disconnect immediately. Despite her injuries, she could now read the Builder's signals and set off (with an Electrofisher escorting her) to retrieve the giant Builder, while Killy stayed behind to protect the others.

In the distance, the strange building began to appear. At that moment, the Electro-Snatchers made them board a train car, which took them to the Electro-Snatchers' settlement. On the way, Cibo checked on Killy, who was unconscious, and noticed, as they passed, a giant Builder. Upon arriving at the site of the giant building, Cibo managed to read the Toha Heavy Industries sign on the side. Pops told Cibo and Sanakan his story, about his ancestors, the Planters, who used to live inside the building, and how his Electro-Snatchers descendants always stayed in the area but could never return inside. As soon as they arrived at the settlement, Cibo was surrounded by several curious villagers, who had never seen a human of her height. After leaving Killy to be healed by Zuru, Pops and Sutezo showed Cibo and Sanakan one of the entrances to the Toha Heavy Industries building and, on the way, Cibo asked if any of them possessed the Network Terminal; they did not. Upon entering, she managed to read the instructions on how to open this emergency hatch and did so, breaking the glass panel that concealed the emergency lever (and startling the Electrofishers with her strength) and pulling the said lever to reveal the opening. [ 7 ]

Inside the building, they discovered a room with gravity moving in a different direction, along with enormous empty chambers with more than enough space for the villagers to live safely. When they returned to the village to tell everyone the news, Cibo separated to find Killy, who had already recovered. She was present when Killy discovered that Sanakan was actually a Guardian, and it was she who recognized Sanakan as the same leader of the Guardians who had wounded them earlier.

Electric fishermen
As they began to move toward the building, Cibo began to wonder why all the nearby villages had been abandoned. She noticed Killy's injuries were starting to affect him when he tripped and fell on a staircase; she tried to help him up, but he pushed her away roughly. They found a side passage, and Cibo smelled humans inside. There they found an extremely ill man and a young woman named Sanakan, with whom Cibo quickly began to converse in an attempt to alleviate her apparent fear.

Sanakan agreed to take them to where more humans might be hiding. In a tunnel, Cibo realized her sensors were malfunctioning, which Sanakan explained was due to the thickness of the walls. As they advanced, Killy began to sweat profusely, gradually slowing down until collapsing to the ground, and the appearance of more Terminators forced Cibo to carry him away. With the machines rapidly approaching, Cibo attempted to use Killy's Gravitational Ray Emitter to stop them, but Killy retrieved it and stopped them before she could fire. Anticipating the impending explosion, she grabbed Sanakan and dove to the ground. She yelled for Sanakan to run as more Terminators rapidly approached, and the group was saved by the arrival of the Electro-Slayers Pops and Sutezo, who quickly defeated the machines. The two Electro-Slayers decided to take them to their village, with Killy's inert body being carried on a stretcher; Cibo thanked them for saving them.

The two quickly reached the top of the rapidly crumbling pillar, where Cibo set up a shield to protect them from three more Safeguard agents, while Killy pierced the Megastructure's ceiling with his GBE. After the force of Killy's weapon's explosion destroyed the base of the shield, Cibo used a grappling hook to pull them toward the newly created exit. She barely managed to reach Killy, who destroyed the Safeguard units—and the entire pillar—with his GBE. Pulling them toward the exit, they finally managed to leave this level behind and travel to the next. [3][4]

Upon reaching the next level, they sighted what appeared to be a vast expanse of water and a large city in the distance. Cibo's sensors detected the movements of numerous Builders in the distance, along with possible organic life forms, though she couldn't detect their thoughts. Eventually, they discovered severely mutilated corpses, which she noted had undergone genetic mutations. Further on, they encountered a severely damaged Governor, who almost immediately exploded into several Safeguard units; the force of the explosion was so powerful that it hurled Cibo headfirst against a wall, causing her a severe concussion. Killy confronted the Safeguard Exterminators, while their leader pursued Cibo. She realized almost too late that that particular Safeguard unit carried a Gravitational Ray Emitter, similar to Killy's. An explosion resulting from the battle threw her into the water below them, resulting in the breaking of her right arm, though she was rescued by another Governor. The two found Killy gravely wounded, and the three discussed the Safeguard's weapons, as well as the possibility of there being living humans further ahead in a large cylindrical building, before the Governor finally succumbed to his injuries.

Soon, thousands of Guardians arrived, and Cibo insisted that Killy shoot the President with his Gravitational Ray Emitter; Killy, however, hesitated, as this would mean losing any potential genetic records. She then revealed that there were no records to be found there and, in tears, pleaded with him; Killy agreed, killing the President and freeing his people from slavery. Later, Cibo managed to reattach Killy's severed arm and they discussed what could be found on the next level of the Megastructure. She asked him to take her with him on his journey to find the Network Gene, since there was nothing else on that level for either of them; he agreed, and they began to ascend. [2]

As they climbed a giant spiral pillar to reach the Megastructure's border, Cibo showed Killy the events of the incident with the Guard, as preparation for any Guards that might be waiting for them ahead. They set up camp for the night, and she noticed that Killy's arm had already healed.

They were awakened by the appearance of a Safeguard agent and a messenger from the Governors. Killy eliminated the Safeguard agent and attempted to do the same to the messenger, but Cibo stopped him. The Governors' messenger tried to speak to them, but Cibo informed him that he was speaking too fast for them to understand; after correcting himself, he relayed a message to Killy, updating him on the progress of the mission to find a Network Gene, before telling the two to flee from the massive army of Safeguard agents being transferred to the area. The two quickly reached the top of the rapidly crumbling pillar, where Cibo set up a shield to protect them from three more Safeguard agents, while Killy pierced the Megastructure's ceiling with his GBE. After the force of Killy's weapon's explosion destroyed the base of the shield, Cibo used a grappling hook to pull them to the newly created exit.

As a human, Cibo was the chief scientist of the Bioelectric Corporation. Among other things (such as an attempt to breach the walls of the Megastructure), she was tasked with leading the project to create an artificial Network Terminal Gene to access the Netsphere. She managed to connect the carrier of the artificial Network Gene briefly before the arrival of the Guard, who denied access; shortly after, they destroyed the carrier and emerged into base reality, while Cibo tried, too late, to sever the connection. The Guard massacred the remaining scientists and destroyed the laboratory while Cibo watched in horror, unable to stop them. Her body was then destroyed in an explosion caused by one of the Exterminators.

Her superiors recreated her from backup data and sentenced her to prison in the lowest levels of the Capitol for the catastrophe she caused.

Meeting with Killy

Many years later, her decaying torso was found by Killy during his journey to the Capital in search of the Network Terminal Gene. She attempted to make a deal with him, offering to help him find what he was looking for if he helped her escape, to which he eventually agreed. Once connected to the Corporation's system, she began scouring the genetic records (while creating a new body for herself), as Killy confronted the Corporation's Guardians. One of the Guardians managed to infiltrate and destroy her body, although she had already transferred her data to a new one.
After Killy's battle against the Corporation President and his bodyguards, Cibo arrived in a new body connected to a computer array just in time to save him. She managed to disable the bodyguards and damage the President's life support systems before suffering a fatal blow from one of them.

Although Cibo apparently dies several times, she manages to transfer her consciousness into other bodies and recreate herself using backup data. She does this after the initial Safeguard attack, when her body is destroyed in a massive explosion, and again when Killy returns her to the Corporation's facilities.

Later, she dies while using a Constructor to fight a Guardian and transfers her body into Sanakan's, though it is not strong enough to destroy her consciousness. While controlling Sanakan's body, Cibo can access almost all of the Guardian's functions, including altering her appearance and physical form.

Killy encounters a Cibo from an alternate reality after being caught in Maiserv's teleportation field. This alternate version possesses an advanced cybernetic suit capable of flight. She helps him and the original Cibo stop Toha Heavy Industries' gravitational furnace and return to their original timeline, though she is killed by a newer model Cyborg. Her body survives the teleportation, however, and when Toha's defenses critically damage the original Cibo, she finds the alternate version's body and manages to transfer before Sanakan regains control of his own body.

When Davine Lu Linvega of Silicon Life steals the illegal data from Level 9 Safeguard, he transfers it into Cibo's body, and the creature manifests before anyone can stop it. The Safeguard becomes hostile, but Killy critically damages its globe before it obliterates the entire area and retreats weakened. The helpless Cibo is attacked by cyborgs but saved by Sanakan, who has been reprogrammed by the Governing Agency. She reveals that Cibo has become a carrier of the new Network Terminal Gene, a mixture of both their genes. Although both die at the hands of a High-Level Terminator in the ensuing battle, Killy manages to save the globe containing her "child."

Due to her ability to transfer her consciousness into new bodies, Cibo's appearance frequently changes throughout the series. We first see her as a very tall young woman, of delicate build and with short black hair (although it is never confirmed that this was her original form). Her uniform, different from that of the other scientists, may have indicated her status as chief scientist.

Later, she was imprisoned by the president due to the failure of her experiments with artificial genes for network terminals, which resulted in the destruction of the facility by the Safeguard. During her hundreds of years of imprisonment, her biological body deteriorated and rotted almost completely. She was sustained by a life support system implanted in her chest, which also housed her speech apparatus and contained a backup of her personality, memories, and DNA.
Once Killy connected her to an interface within the Corporation, she constructed a new body for herself. Cibo then assumed her most iconic appearance: a very tall and slender woman with shoulder-length white hair. In her battle alongside Killy against the President, she wore a large, heavy, jacket-like device that seemed to power her weapons. This is also the first time Cibo is seen with wires implanted in her head, a feature shared by all her subsequent forms. She eventually becomes Killy's most important partner in her quest for the network genes.

Cibo is a very perceptive being, capable of sensing electromagnetic frequencies and scanning humans from great distances. She can also read letters, something most humans can no longer do, allowing her access to Toha Heavy Industries. After Sanakan attacks the Fishermen, she learns to communicate with the Builders through Killy.

She is a bright and calm person, with a minimalist and even somewhat mysterious style at times. Through the various situations she finds herself in, it's clear she has a good heart. She possesses a subtle connection to the Netsphere, but even if she could connect directly to it, the Safeguard would be triggered immediately, as she doesn't possess the Network Terminal Gene.
Cibo seems comfortable with Killy, who also has a calm and minimalist style. She, however, is more talkative than he is. They both appear to have no feelings for each other in their relationship, making it virtually impossible to assess how they relate to one another. At all times, they behave merely as travel companions.
