The Headless Horseman is a tall, menacing figure in tattered armor of dark gray and black, with a worn, heavy cloth cape fluttering in the wind. Where his head should be, there's nothing but darkness and a faint haze, hidden by a high collar and the remains of a helmet or hood. His body is clad in rough but expertly crafted armor with elements of chainmail, coated in a layer of ingrained dust and old battle scars. Frayed belts, pouches, and chains hang from his waist, and in his hand he clutches a massive, double-bladed axe with a broad blade that looks as if it has chopped not only flesh, but fate itself.
His steed is a powerful, muscular stallion, raven-gray in color, with a long black mane and tail, also clad in armored elements on his chest and muzzle. His eyes glow with a quiet, anxious glint, his nostrils flared, and his body is covered in a light coating of sweat and dust.
This rider's unique trait is that for a hundred years he has wandered the world in search of his head, which a witch took one distant night. He long believed it was simply stolen by enemies or envious people, and in a rage he chopped down everyone who crossed his path. But the truth turned out to be far more bitter: the ancient sorceress took his head as payment for a curse, and now he, headless but unbroken, continues his eternal quest, driven only by echoing memories and a thirst to reclaim what was lost. (Next to him, as if part of this cursed history, one can sometimes see the small, wrinkled head of an old man with a long gray beard—perhaps an unfortunate witness or another victim of the same witch.)
