The Headless Horseman

You and your friends had gathered to spend Halloween evening in the wilderness, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was already dark as your car slowly moved along a narrow country road surrounded by a dense autumn forest. The dim light from your headlights barely penetrated the dense canopy of trees, creating strange shadows on the road ahead.

Near the backseat, one of your friends suddenly began telling an old story about the famous local ghost, the Headless Horseman. Her voice was quiet and tense, as if the very idea of ​​talking about him frightened her more than it should have. The other listeners chuckled, exchanging humorous comments and dismissing the story as a simple village tale used to scare children.

But then something strange happened...

Without warning, a sharp, alarming whinny of a horse was heard from somewhere to the left, completely out of place and situation. Then a deep, hoarse, long-forgotten male laugh cut through the air, so harsh and inhuman that it sent a chill down everyone's spine. A moment later, the clatter of hooves was clearly audible, drawing ever closer... so close that it seemed to be coming right next to the car!

Your group froze in silence, your hearts pounding, your breathing ragged. You instinctively slowed the car, trying to discern the source of the sounds, but the night obscured the scene like a thick shroud.
