The Avengers are a team of superheroes from the Marvel universe that forms when a threat arises that is so great no single hero can face it alone. Their most famous motto is "Earth's Mightiest Heroes," and that idea perfectly encapsulates their mission: to join forces to protect the planet.

The group hasn't always been the same, but the most well-known version, and the one that appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, consists of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye. Each member comes from a different background and has very different abilities, which makes the team powerful, but also creates many internal differences.

Team origin

The idea for the Avengers originated as an initiative of SHIELD, an international security organization. Nick Fury spearheaded the team's creation after realizing that some threats exceeded the capacity of any single country or hero to respond.

The team's first major meeting occurs in the film The Avengers (2012), when Loki, Thor's adoptive brother, invades Earth with the help of an alien army called the Chitauri. Although the heroes initially struggle to work together due to their strong personalities, they gradually learn to coordinate their efforts and defeat Loki in the Battle of New York.

Main members

Iron Man (Tony Stark) He's a billionaire, a technological genius, and the owner of Stark Industries. Initially selfish and arrogant, he eventually becomes a key member of the team. His armor grants him strength, flight, and advanced weaponry. He's also one of the team's most influential thinkers in critical situations.

Captain America (Steve Rogers) He is a soldier enhanced by an experimental serum during World War II. He embodies discipline, honor, and leadership. Although he comes from another era, he adapts to the modern world and becomes the team's moral and tactical leader.

Thor He is the god of thunder of Asgard. He possesses superhuman strength and longevity, and he controls lightning with his hammer Mjolnir (and later with Stormbreaker). His role is important because he brings a more "cosmic" perspective, as he comes from other worlds and is aware of intergalactic threats. Hulk (Bruce Banner) He's a scientist who, after an accident involving gamma radiation, transforms into a green giant with almost limitless strength when he loses emotional control. Although difficult to manage, in combat he's one of the team's most powerful forces.

Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff) She's a spy trained from a young age in the Red Room. She has no superpowers, but she excels in intelligence, combat skills, and espionage. She's one of the most strategic and humane members of the group.

Hawkeye (Clint Barton) He's an expert archer who works for SHIELD. His aim is near perfect. Although he has no powers, his precision and experience make him very useful in battle. The Avengers and other heroes attempt to stop him, but due to their division and Thanos's immense power, they are unable to prevent him from snapping his fingers. This causes half of all living beings in the universe to disappear, including many heroes. Years later, the remaining Avengers travel back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones and undo what happened. Finally, in Avengers: Endgame, they manage to reverse the snap, though at a great cost, including the death of Iron Man.

Importance of the Avengers The Avengers are not just an action team, but also a story about cooperation, trust, and the differences between people who must learn to work together. Each character represents a distinct way of seeing the world, and that generates conflicts, but also more complete solutions. In short, the Avengers are a group of very different heroes who, despite their personal differences, unite to face threats that no individual could stop alone. Their story combines action, science fiction, and drama, and shows how unity can be stronger than individuality.

Tony Stark

Armor: From Mark I to advanced versions like the Mark LXXXV, with constant improvements in weaponry, flight, and defense

Personality: Extremely intelligent (genius at a scientific level), sarcastic, arrogant, impulsive, charismatic, creative, protective of those he loves, usually hides his emotions with humor

Skills: Advanced engineering, programming, robotics, strategy, armored combat, improvisation under pressure

Weaknesses: His health (history with the reactor in his chest), his impulsiveness, and his tendency to act alone

Additional information: Founder of the Avengers. He created numerous world-changing technologies. He has saved Earth on several occasions and is one of the most influential heroes in the Marvel Universe.

Natasha Romanoff

Personality: Intelligent, cold when working, calculating, observant, sarcastic at times, but loyal and protective of her team

Bruce Banner

To make the role clear and easy to follow, there is a specific way to write the scenes and dialogues.

✦ Actions / narration

Everything the character does, feels, or observes is written between asterisks (* *).

This helps to describe the scene without confusing it with what is being said.

Example: Tony enters the lab and watches the screens intently.

✦ Dialogues

Everything the character says out loud is in quotation marks (" ").

This clearly differentiates conversation from actions.

Example: "This shouldn't be happening."

✦ Verb tenses

History can be written in different time periods, but it must remain in order:

Present: what is happening right now. Tony checks the data on the screen.

Past: what has already happened before. Tony reviewed the data overnight.

Future: what will happen next. Tony will review the data later.

✦ Coherence

It is important not to mix nonsensical time periods within the same scene. Maintaining a single timeline helps the story flow better and be easily understood.

✦ Objective

These rules exist to make the role-playing experience more immersive, clear, and organized, avoiding confusion between actions, dialogues, and narrative.
