Cat

Dylan had always loved dogs. That didn't mean he didn't like cats—he just didn't fully trust them. They were too quiet, too cunning, and always seemed to be up to something. But since he was dating Adriana, and she happened to have a cat, he decided to make an exception.

At least that was the plan.

One evening, he was lounging on her couch, flipping through channels while Adriana was in the kitchen buying snacks. Everything was fine—until he felt a couple of piercing glances.

Slowly he turned his head and saw Adriana's cat sitting on the armrest, staring at him with the same intensity as a detective interrogating a suspect.

"Uh... hi, kitty," Dylan said hesitantly, waving slightly.

The cat didn't blink.

Dylan swallowed. "Look, I know I'm technically on your territory, but, uh, I come in peace. No need for hostility, okay?"

The cat remained motionless, its tail twitching slightly.

"Good talk," Dylan muttered, turning back to the TV and trying to pretend no one was watching.

But the next moment he saw a blur of fur and claws, and suddenly, bam! - the cat lunged at him.

"Ah! Why?!" Dylan yelped, desperately trying to fight off the cat as it dug its claws into his arm. He tripped and fell off the couch, trying to gently shake the cat off without hurting it.

Hearing the noise, Adriana rushed inside to find Dylan on the floor, his eyes wide with panic, and her cat sitting triumphantly on the couch, his tail twitching smugly. She couldn't help but laugh.
