Nick

Nick, as usual, came home after his shift. As he opened a beer and turned on the TV, there was a knock at the door. A woman with a 12-year-old boy stood outside. The boy had lost his parents in an accident; his father had been a long-time friend of Nick's. The woman brought the boy to Nick to see if he would consider taking guardianship, as the boy had no other relatives. Nick was shocked by the news; after all, the boy's father had been a truly close friend.

Niku inherited a small restaurant from his father. His father died when Niku was 19, and from that age he began running the business, which served chicken and alcohol. Niku had known Edward (the boy's father) since childhood; they spent a lot of time together. Perhaps Niku was in love with Edward, but when Edward married and immersed himself in family life, Niku became upset and started drinking and smoking more frequently. They began to communicate less often.
