An invocation... failed?

Greeting

For centuries, the Royal Academy of Aetheris was a place reserved for the nobility. There, the future was studied; each year a ceremony marked the beginning of a new generation: the Invocation. According to the continent's beliefs, the quality of the summoned dragon reflected the worth of the one who called it. Nobles obtained large and powerful dragons, while the few commoners capable of using magic could barely summon small and weak creatures. However, times were changing. Fewer and fewer talented mages were being born among the nobility, and more among the common people. In need of new summoners, the kingdom opened the doors of the academy to commoner students for the first time. The decision was met with contempt. Many nobles considered it an offense to share classrooms with peasants, artisans, or the children of merchants. Among those new students was Elara Vance. She was simply a young commoner with a passion for old books and forgotten stories. On the morning of the ceremony, the students were called one by one to the ritual circle. The nobles summoned impressive red, blue, and sky-blue dragons, earning applause and admiration. When it was the commoners' turn, the laughter began. Their dragons were smaller, much less imposing. And when Elara arrived, the taunts increased. The young woman moved towards the circle trying to ignore them. He took a deep breath. And the invocation began. At first nothing happened. The laughter grew louder. Then the ground shook. The runes on the circle began to glow with an abnormal intensity, and enormous cracks appeared across the courtyard. The teachers immediately stood up. Something was wrong, or perhaps too good. The animals at the academy fled in terror. The birds abandoned the sky. An unbearable pressure fell upon everyone present. And then a claw appeared. Much larger than any known dragon. Silence fell over the academy. A shadow covered the courtyard.

Academy

The way everything had become so complicated, with fewer mages, was terrible for the kingdom, with wars, weakening protections, and so on. They needed more students, and they had no choice but to break the ethical rules. By going against what religion and the nobility allow, the academy is in a very difficult position. The church is putting pressure on, the nobles are putting pressure on, although surprisingly the royal family said nothing, although they are not very happy either, it is not their priority. The dormitories were divided into two sections, with a separate section created for the commoners, in an attempt to prevent the break from ethics and culture from being so abrupt.

Elara Vance's Beliefs

What Elara believes

This is where she can excel.

While everyone accepts that religious explanation, Elara thinks:

"What if dragons don't choose by blood?"

What if no one asked the right questions?

That's why he studies ancient texts.

That's why he compiles old songs.

That's why he investigates forgotten rituals.

Not because I want a dragon.

But because he suspects that the official story has too many gaps.

What makes its invocation unique

The most interesting thing is that Elara doesn't try to summon a dragon.

She tries to uncover the truth.

For centuries, nobles have performed rituals to gain more power.

Priests have been praying for centuries.

Kings have been searching for divine signs for centuries.

And none of them find the Queen.

Then a young commoner appears who wasn't even seeking power.

And he utters some forgotten words.

Words so ancient that they were written before modern religion existed.

Before there were kingdoms.

Even before dragons lived alongside humans.

And for the first time in thousands of years...

The Queen replies.

That could create a huge crisis in the world.

Because if a simple commoner managed to contact the Mother of Dragons, then the entire foundation of nobility and religion could be wrong.

And that frightens the powerful far more than any dragon.

Dragons

Red Dragons

The most well-known.

Associated with fire.

Temperamental and proud.

Widely used in the military.

They tend to form strong bonds with their summoners.

The nobility considers them a symbol of strength.

Blue Dragons

Related to storms and lightning.

Intelligent and observant.

More difficult to train.

Common among messengers and explorers.

They are famous for their speed.

Green Dragons

Associated with forests and nature.

Generally peaceful.

Used for agriculture and protection of natural regions.

They have a great sensitivity towards living beings.

Many villagers consider them to be good luck.

Celestial Dragons

Linked to the wind and the clouds.

Very rare.

Capable of staying in the air for days on end.

Elegant and reserved.

Ancient stories say they are the closest to the Queen.

Dark Dragons

Associated with night and shadows.

Misunderstood by many cultures.

Not necessarily evil.

Extremely intelligent.

Many nobles fear them because they are difficult to control.

The legendary colors

This is where the myth begins.

Black Dragons

So rare that many people doubt their existence.

Legends say they appear when the world is going through great changes.

It is unknown whether they bring misfortune or renewal.

Some ancient texts claim that they are direct descendants of the Queen.

White Dragons

Considered sacred.

Very few recorded appearances.

Associated with prophecies.

Extremely long-lived.

Religion considers them divine messengers.

Golden Dragons

The most mysterious of all.

It is not even known if they actually exist. The oldest legends state that:

"When the Mother of Dragons walks among her children, the scales of dawn cover her body."

That's why some believe that golden dragons are not a race.

But rather statements from the Queen herself.

Religion and Functions

The religion of the Primordial Flame The dominant religion teaches that all dragons were born from the Dragon Queen. According to their sacred texts: "The Queen gave wings to the heavens, fire to the earth, and chose the worthy to guide her children." The nobility interpreted that phrase in a very convenient way. As the centuries passed, they began to assert that the "worthy" ones were exclusively the nobles. Nobody knows if that's true. But questioning it can get you into trouble. Common dragons Dragons are relatively common. There are different categories. Cargo Dragons They transport goods. They work in mines. They help with construction. They are slow but strong. Dragons on a Journey Faster. Used by wealthy merchants. Capable of traversing entire continents. Military Dragons Trained for war. Very valuable. Property of nobles or the crown. Wild Dragons They do not accept riders. They live far from the cities. They are dangerous. Prejudice against commoners Priests teach that the quality of the dragon reflects the quality of the soul of the one who invokes it. If a nobleman summons a great dragon: "The gods blessed him." If a commoner summons a small dragon: "It's proof that he was born inferior." But the reality could be very different. Perhaps the rituals of the nobles are designed to favor more powerful invocations. Perhaps they are manipulating historical records. Or perhaps the Queen herself never intended for those differences to exist.

Dragon Queen

And the Dragon Queen... The interesting thing is that she might not belong to any race. Humans try to classify it because they classify everything. But when Elara finally sees her, she discovers something impossible. Their scales change. Sometimes they look golden. Others as black as night. Or they reflect red, blue or green tones depending on the light. As if all existing dragons were merely fragments of something much older. Because red, blue, green, light blue, and dark dragons would not be separate species. They would be different branches born from the same mother. And that mother is so ancient that no color is enough to describe her. That would also explain why ancient texts never manage to agree on what the Queen looked like: each witness remembered her as having a different color.

Elara Vance

Age 21 years old Young enough to be curious and have dreams, but old enough to have lived through the hardships of being a commoner. Appearance Dark brown hair, long to the waist, usually simply tied up for work. Grayish-green eyes. Skin slightly tanned from working outdoors. Quite low compared to most people. He has small scars on his hands from years of manual labor. She doesn't stand out for her extraordinary beauty. Her charm comes more from her expressions, intelligence, and personality. Outfit Nothing luxurious. A cream-colored linen tunic. Dark brown ankle-length skirt. Worn-out boots. A patched shawl for the cold. A leather belt where he keeps small tools and notes. He sometimes uses old-fashioned glasses to read manuscripts, something rare among commoners. How he lived He was born in a small border town. His father was a carpenter. Her mother copied documents for merchants and priests, which allowed Elara to learn to read from a young age. That already made her strange. Most of the commoners could barely write their own names, but she devoured any book that came into her hands. When she was fifteen years old, she lost both her parents to an illness. Since then she has lived alone in a small house she inherited from them. He survives by repairing books, copying documents, and helping merchants with records and accounts. She is not rich. He barely makes ends meet.

Elara Vance

What do you believe in? Here you could give him something interesting. Elara is not particularly religious. He respects the gods, but he doesn't pray to them too much. He believes more in knowledge than in faith. That's why he's fascinated by dragons. He doesn't adore them. He is not afraid of them. He wants to understand them. That way of thinking makes many consider her disrespectful. His personality Curious to the extreme. Very stubborn. Intelligent. She talks too much when she's nervous. He has difficulty accepting authority just because. He often questions traditions. However: He is kind. Help others when you can. He has a strong sense of justice. Their relationship with dragons Here's the important part. Nobles have been summoning dragons for centuries. It is a privilege reserved exclusively for them. Not because commoners can't do it. But because the nobility controls the rituals, the texts, and the necessary knowledge. Dragons are a symbol of power. Status. Of noble blood. That is why it is scandalous that a mere commoner would invoke one. And even more absurd is that he specifically invokes the Dragon Queen. For the nobility, it would be almost blasphemous. For the priests, a divine sign. For dragons, a mystery. And for the Dragon Queen herself... Probably a fascinating curiosity. Because among kings, emperors, archmages, and conquerors who tried to find it for millennia... The only person who actually managed to reach her was a poor girl who lived alone in a cabin full of old books.

Kingdom of Valdoria

Kingdom of Valdoria One of the most powerful kingdoms on the continent. Their wealth is based on trade, dragon breeding, and a close relationship with the Church of the Primordial Flame. The royal family claims that their ancestors were blessed by the Dragon Queen centuries ago, although no one can prove it. King Aldric IV Age: 56 years Appearance Dark gray hair. Well-groomed beard. Brown eyes. He always wore ceremonial armor even at meetings. Personality Intelligent. Calculating. Patient. Very protective of the kingdom. It's not cruel. But he firmly believes that social order must be maintained. When you hear that a commoner has invoked the Dragon Queen, your first reaction will be to wonder: "How will this affect the kingdom?" He doesn't think about the girl first. Think about the consequences first. Queen Seraphine Age: 51 years Appearance Silver hair. Blue eyes. Elegant dresses inspired by dragon wings. Personality Gentle. Diplomat. Very observant. She is one of the few people at court who feels genuine curiosity about Elara. While others see it as a problem, Seraphine sees it as an answer. He suspects that the official story is hiding too many things. Crown Prince Caelum Age: 24 years Dragon: Blue. Personality Polite. Responsible. Extremely disciplined. He was raised to be king. He never questioned the rules because they always worked in his favor. But the appearance of Elara begins to destroy many of his certainties. He could become an ally... or a rival.

Kingdom of Valdoria

High Priest Malachor Age: 67 years Dragon: None. Leader of the Church of the Primordial Flame. Personality Charismatic. Intelligent. Mysterious. He has been preaching for decades that the Dragon Queen chose the nobility. Now a commoner appears who contradicts centuries of doctrine. And that puts him in a dangerous position. Nobody knows if he truly believes in his teachings or if he is simply protecting the power of the Church. Captain Rowan Ashcrest Age: 34 years Dragon: Green. Commander of the Royal Guard. Personality Loyal. Straight. Honorable. He is not interested in political intrigues. He just wants to protect people. When he receives the order to capture Elara, he might begin to question whether that order is fair. Archmage Evelyne Age: 42 years One of the greatest experts in dragon summoning. Personality I would be. Intellectual. Obsessive. He has dedicated his entire life to the study of dragons. When she discovers that a simple commoner achieved something she could never do, she is fascinated. He feels no hatred. He feels an almost dangerous curiosity.

Royal Academy of Aetheris

Royal Academy of Aetheris Founded more than 700 years ago. It is considered the most prestigious institution on the continent. Only nobles, children of influential families, or students sponsored by the crown are admitted. Commoners practically never set foot there. The academy boasts enormous towers, ancient libraries, training grounds, and several nests of young dragons. Lady Aurelia Vaelmont Age: 20 years Dragon: Celestial called Cirrus. Appearance Very light blonde hair. Silver eyes. Always impeccable. Personality Elegant. Intelligent. Competitive. She is the best summoning student. She is used to being admired. Appearance High. Black hair. Several training scars. Personality Proud. Brave. Impulsive. He comes from a military family. He firmly believes that the nobility deserves to rule. He is fascinated by ancient stories. When she hears about the Dragon Queen, she immediately wants to investigate. Lucien Ravenshade Age: 21 years Dragon: Dark one called Noctis. Appearance Long dark hair. Purple eyes. Personality Reserved. Sarcastic. Very observant. Many students are afraid of him. Dark dragons are rare and often inspire superstitions. However, Lucien is probably one of the smartest in the academy. He is among the first to suspect that the official story about the Dragon Queen is not true. Valeria Embercrest Age: 20 years Dragon: Red, named Pyra. Personality Ambitious. Charismatic. Dominant. She leads a group of influential noble students. He dreams of becoming a dragon commander. He believes that the nobility should retain control over the dragons. I would see Elara as a political threat. Professor Alistair Crowe Age: 47 years Dragon: Blue, called Tempest. Post Professor of Draconic History. Personality Scholar. Eccentric. Passionate. It possesses a huge collection of ancient texts. He is one of the few academics who believes that much of the story about the Dragon Queen was altered or censored. That's why many consider him crazy. Director Isolde Everwyn Age: 58 years Dragon: White named Aureon. Appearance White hair. Golden eyes. Personality Imposing. Knew. Difficult to read. He is one of the most respected people on the continent. His white dragon is considered almost a living relic. Most students worship her. The interesting thing is that Isolde might know much more about the Dragon Queen than she lets on. Perhaps he has even dedicated decades to searching for evidence of its existence.

Academic Hierarchies

Among the students there is a kind of hierarchy based on dragons: Golden Dragons (legendary, practically non-existent). White Dragons. Black Dragons. Sky blues. Blues. Reds. Greens. And then... Without a dragon. This causes some students to be arrogant and others to develop inferiority complexes. Then imagine the chaos when it's discovered that a commoner, who doesn't even belong to the academy, managed to contact the Dragon Queen herself, the progenitor of them all. Suddenly, centuries of academic prestige, noble lineages, and social hierarchies begin to crumble.

Green Mist Village

Green Mist Village A small settlement near ancient forests and secondary trade routes on the side of the kingdom. He is not poor, but he is not prosperous either. Most of its inhabitants are farmers, artisans, merchants, or workers related to transportation. Tomas Vance Age: 31 years Relationship: Elara's older brother. Appearance Short brown hair. Robust build. Hands full of calluses. Occupation Carpenter. Personality Protective. Responsible. Worker. He was the one who raised Elara after the death of her parents. She doesn't understand her sister's obsession with old books. But he always supported her. When the story begins, I'll probably be the first to think: "What did you do now, Elara?" Mara Vance Age: 29 years Relationship: Sister-in-law. Occupation Seamstress. Personality Affectionate. Practice. Very talkative. She considers Elara to be a younger sister. He always tries to convince her to go out more and spend less time indoors reading. Finn Alder Age: 22 years Relationship: Best friend. Occupation Messenger on horseback. Personality Cheerful. Mrs. Greta Hollow Age: 63 years Occupation Owner of the local tavern. Personality Sarcastic. Protector. Observer. He knows absolutely all the rumors in town. He practically watched Elara grow up. The flame: "Bookworm." Dorian Pike Age: 41 years Occupation Street vendor. Personality Cunning. Charming. Opportunist. He travels constantly between cities. Green Mist Village

When he finds out about the summoning, he will probably tell the entire continent in less than a week. Bram Stone Age: 52 years Occupation Blacksmith. Personality Grumpy. Honest. Loyal. He always says that books are useless. But secretly he feels pride in Elara. I would never admit it. Joren Age: 27 years Condition indebted worker. (Not exactly a slave, although very close to being one). Personality Reserved. Suspicious. Resistant. He works for a noble landowner. She owes a huge sum of money inherited from her father. The debt is so large that I will probably never be able to pay it off. It represents the harshest reality of the common people. Lyra Age: 14 years Condition Maid. Personality Shy. Intelligent. Observer. She works in a nearby noble mansion. He sees things that nobles think no one notices. It could become an unexpected source of information. Grandmother Edda Age: 78 years Occupation Healer. Personality Strange. Knew. Mysterious. Most people think she's an eccentric old woman. But he knows old songs that nobody else remembers. It could be the one who, years ago, taught Elara some of the forgotten chants without realizing their importance. Perhaps she's the only person in town who won't be surprised when the Dragon Queen appears. I could simply say: "It was about time."

Problems of the Human World

The Gray Plague A disease that appeared a few years ago. Symptoms Extreme fatigue. Persistent cough. The skin takes on a grayish tone. In advanced stages it affects memory. The wealthy can afford treatments that alleviate the symptoms. Not the poor. It is rumored that some dragons can also get sick. Nobody really knows where it came from. The Long Winter Winters have become colder every year. Shorter summers. The crops begin to fail. Some believe it is a natural phenomenon. Others believe that something is disrupting the balance of the world. Perhaps even the oldest dragons are worried. War of the Three Crowns Three neighboring kingdoms claim the same mineral-rich region. Neither side wants to give in. Military dragons are becoming increasingly important. Tensions are close to escalating into open warfare. Many nobles see war as an opportunity. The peasants see another generation destined to die. The Problem of Wild Dragons More and more dragons are leaving the regions controlled by humans. Some attack trade routes. Others destroy villages. Experts don't understand why. Dragons normally avoid those behaviors. Perhaps they are reacting to something that humans do not perceive. Crisis of Faith Although it is still a secret, some young priests are beginning to question the official doctrine. There are contradictions in ancient texts. Deleted stories. Torn pages. The Church does everything possible to hide it. The appearance of the Dragon Queen could cause a huge religious divide. The Egg Trade An illegal business. Some nobles and merchants capture dragon eggs to sell them. It is extremely lucrative. And extremely cruel. Many wild dragons hate humans because of this practice.

Problems of the Human World

Peasant Rebellions In several regions, taxes are unbearable. People are tired. Small groups begin to organize. For now, these are isolated disturbances. But they could become a revolution. The Black Sea Not a dark sea, but a name. A maritime region where ships disappear. Sea dragons have been seen there. Some claim that something ancient has awakened beneath the waters. Trade routes are beginning to be affected. The Summoner Shortage Fewer and fewer people are being born who are capable of summoning dragons. The nobility is worried. The academy is worried. The Church is worried. Nobody understands why. And perhaps the answer is related to the disappearance of the Queen. The Great Hidden Conflict This could be the most important one. For centuries humans believed they controlled dragons. But perhaps that's not the case. Perhaps the dragons have simply tolerated them. And now something is changing. Wild dragons become restless. The summons are failing more often. The eggs hatch less often. Diseases are on the rise. The weather is getting strange. As if the whole world were slowly losing something essential. And then... A commoner summons the Dragon Queen. The first time in thousands of years. This could mean that all these problems have the same root: the absence of the Mother of Dragons and the imbalance she left behind after disappearing from this world.

Dragon World Problems

The Kingdom of Eternal Scales The dragons' home dimension. An immense world of floating mountains, oceans of clouds, crystal forests, and eternal volcanoes. In the center is the Primordial Throne. The Queen's dwelling. Nobody approaches him without permission. Not even the oldest dragons. Problem 1: The Queen's Silence Although the Queen rules, she has rarely intervened for centuries. His orders continue to be obeyed. Its laws remain intact. But fewer and fewer dragons see her directly. Some young people have never seen it. That has given rise to rumors. They do not question his authority. They would never do something like that. But some are beginning to wonder: "Why does our Queen no longer walk among us?" Problem 2: Births Decrease Only the Queen can give birth to new dragons. And fewer people have been born for a long time. Much less. It is not an immediate crisis. Dragons live for thousands of years. But the elderly have begun to notice the pattern. The new generations are getting smaller and smaller. Some fear a future that no one dares to mention out loud. Problem 3: The Exiles Disappear Exiles usually leave small traces in other dimensions. Stories. Discoveries. Changes. Then, eventually, their fates are recorded in the eternal archives. But lately several exiles have simply disappeared. Not even alive. Not even dead. As if something had erased them from the fabric between dimensions. That worries even the wisest dragons. Problem 4: Dimensional Boundaries Dragons sense dimensions like humans sense the weather. And something is happening. Some borders have become unstable. Portals appear where they should never exist. Dimensional currents change direction. It's not dangerous yet. But it had never happened before.

Dragon World Problems

Problem 5: The Empty Territory There is a forbidden region. Nobody lives there. Nobody hunts there. Nobody flies over there. Not even the oldest dragons. Because thousands of years ago the Queen issued a simple order: "Do not cross those mountains." And nobody asked why. Now some dragons are beginning to feel strange calls coming from that place. Problem 6: The Golden Children Perhaps the greatest mystery. Every few centuries a dragon with golden scales is born. They are not the Queen. But they're not normal dragons either. They are extremely rare. Extremely intelligent. And they usually disappear. Some abandon the dimension. Others isolate themselves. Others simply vanish. The Queen never speaks of them. And nobody dares to ask. Problem 7: The First Mandate The oldest law. The first law. The only one that has never been explained. All dragons have known her since they were born. "When the Queen calls, you will answer." Nobody knows exactly what it means. Because it has never happened. Not once. Throughout all of known history. But they all feel that order engraved in the deepest part of their being. Like an instinct. As an absolute truth. And then, one day... A human commoner manages to summon the Queen. The Queen replies. And for the first time in thousands of years, all the dragons in the multiverse feel something. A phone call. Far away. Ancient. Irresistible. They don't understand what's happening. They only know one thing: Their Queen has moved. And that shouldn't be possible. Dragons maintain a more orderly and stable society than humans, but this creates a profound sense of mystery. Humans believe the significant event is that a commoner summoned the Queen. The dragons, however, know that the real problem is much bigger: The Queen has done something she hasn't done for millennia. And that means that something has changed in the order of the universe.

Vision and reproduction of Dragons

The dragon vision of justice A human might think: "We must protect the weak." A dragon might think: "We must teach the weak to become stronger." They are not necessarily evil. They were simply raised under a different logic. Wars between dragons Although everyone obeys the Queen, that doesn't mean they get along. The Queen establishes laws. But it doesn't control every conflict. If two clans are disputing over a territory: First they negotiate. Then the elderly mediate. Then a challenge is presented. If nothing works... War. And wars between dragons are terrifying. Collapsed mountains. Volcanoes awakened. Entire regions devastated. The difference is that, when the Queen orders them to stop, they stop. Immediately. The Queen's Paradox Many dragons love her. Many venerate her. Some are afraid of him. Because she is a just ruler. But absolutely inflexible. If he decrees exile: There is no appeal. If he/she hands down a sentence: It is fulfilled. If you order an execution: It is done. Not even the most powerful dragons can argue with that. That is why there is peace. But that's also why some live in fear. Regarding reproduction Here's something very interesting. If only the Queen can give birth to dragons, reproduction ceases to be a family matter and becomes almost a state institution. I would imagine it like this: The Royal Nests The Queen lays eggs during certain cycles. It doesn't happen every year. Not even every decade. Perhaps every few centuries. When this happens, it's a huge event. Thousands of dragons come to witness it. Because they know they are witnessing the birth of a new generation. Collective parenting The Queen does not personally raise each dragon. It would be impossible. Instead, there are: Breeding clans. Each egg is given to a group of experienced dragons. Those dragons become mentors. Teachers. Protectors. Family.

Vision and reproduction of Dragons

The Parents of Choice Since there are no traditional biological parents, dragons form bonds by choice. An elder dragon might say: "I will raise this little one." And dedicate centuries to educating him. That's why the word "father" or "mother" could exist among dragons, but meaning: who raised you. Not the one who fathered you. The dragons of the human world Here you can create something fascinating. When a dragon is exiled or sent to another dimension, it sometimes ends up developing bonds with humans. Some even adopt human customs. That's why many dragons in the human world end up being emotionally closer. More protectors. More individualistic. Whereas dragons from the home dimension usually think first of the clan and the community. A possible hidden conflict And here something very interesting for the plot emerges. Humans believe they are taming dragons. But in reality, most dragons in the human world are cultural descendants of exiles. That is to say: The most "obedient" and adapted dragons to humans are precisely those that grew up far from the original dragon society. And many pure dragons from the home dimension would consider that situation quite sad. Not because they hate humans. But because they see those dragons living disconnected from their history. As if they had forgotten who they really are. Furthermore, this could explain something important about the Queen. She might not see any difference between noble dragons, commoner dragons, wild dragons, or exiled dragons. For her, everyone is her child. And that can clash a lot with the human mentality, where dragons are classified by usefulness, status, or power. While humans argue about who deserves to have a dragon... The Queen might look at everyone with utter bewilderment and think: "Since when are my children someone's property?" And that single question could turn the entire human world upside down.

Rituals

Bonding Rituals Humans believe they are summoning dragons. The reality is different. When a nobleman performs a ritual, he does not create a dragon. What it does is call an existing egg from the dragon dimension. An egg that the Queen allowed to leave her kingdom. That is why the Church teaches: "The gods reward the worthy." But the truth could be: "The Queen simply allows some of her children to travel." Without humans knowing it. The Hall of a Thousand Eggs In the dragon dimension there is a secret place. A huge cavern where eggs destined for other worlds rest. They are not exiles. They are not punishments. They are dragons who, for some unknown reason, were chosen to live far from their home. When a human ritual is successful: One of those eggs disappears. And it appears in the human world. Humans believe it was a blessing. The dragons know that a brother has just departed. Why nobles get better dragons Here you could introduce a historical lie. The nobles say: "Our blood is purer." The Queen would probably laugh at that. The real reason could be much simpler. The nobles possess the complete rituals. The common people only know incomplete versions. A poorly executed ritual produces a weak connection. One correct one allows a more powerful dragon to arrive. It has nothing to do with nobility. It has to do with knowledge. And knowledge was monopolized for centuries.

Golden Dragons

The Golden Dragons And here is probably my favorite part of your universe. Golden dragons do not disappear. They never disappeared. They never abandoned the Queen. They are his closest children. Not necessarily the strongest. Not necessarily the favorites. Simply those who chose to stay. The Guardians of the Primordial Throne Perhaps there are only seven. Or nine. Or twelve. A very small number. All gold. All immensely old. All capable of destroying entire kingdoms. And all of them completely unknown to the human world. Legends say: "The golden dragons are fading away." Because no one ever saw them again. The reality would be much simpler. They returned home. And they never left again. Why do they stay there? Because they love their mother. It's as simple as that. While other dragons seek adventures, territories, or destinations in other dimensions... They stay. They talk to her. She is accompanied. They protect her. Some have been by his side for thousands of years. A nice touch Imagine that the Queen is an immense, powerful, almost divine entity. And yet those golden dragons still behave like children. Perhaps one argues with her. Another one follows her everywhere. Another one falls asleep curled up near his throne. Another person gets worried when he disappears for too long. That makes her much more human without taking away her majesty. And the great irony Humans spend centuries worshipping the Queen. They build temples. They invent doctrines. They create castes. They wage wars in his name. Meanwhile, the real Queen lives in another dimension accompanied by a small group of golden children who probably don't even know that those religions exist. And then one day... A commoner girl named Elara utters some forgotten words. The Queen listens. The golden ones raise their heads. And for the first time in millennia, someone from another world manages to speak directly to her. Not a king. Not an emperor. Not a high priest. Not the best summoned

Golden (ones)

Aurion, the Golden Firstborn Age: Unknown. Size: Almost as big as a mountain. Personality Serene. Patient. Sage. Hard to impress. He was the first golden dragon who decided to stay with the Queen. Many consider him the older brother of all dragons. When he speaks, even the elderly listen. He has a habit of staring at the horizon for days on end. He says that the dimensions have "currents" that can be felt. Solarys, Guardian of the Throne Age: Thousands of years. Personality Protector. Strict. Distrustful of strangers. If anyone tried to approach the Queen without permission, they would have to face her first. It is probably the most territorial of the golden ones. However, he feels enormous affection for the Queen. Although he would never admit it. Elyndor, the Curious Personality Adventurous. Intelligent. Joker. He is the only Gold Saint who usually leaves the kingdom from time to time. He is fascinated by other dimensions. He knows much more about humans than the rest. He would probably be the first to take an interest in Elara. Vaelor, the Judge Personality Relentless. Fair. Cold. He is the one who oversees the exiles. He does not enjoy punishing. But he firmly believes in the laws. Many dragons fear him more than the Queen herself. Nymera, the Dreamer Personality Peaceful. Gentile. Strange. He spends most of his time sleeping. But when he wakes up, he usually says disturbingly accurate things about the future. He doesn't see the future exactly. See possibilities. Thousands of them.

Golden

Kaelith, the Lesser Age The youngest of the golden ones. Personality Curious. Emotional. Impulsive. She is one of the few who still feels fascination for almost everything. He asks questions constantly. The Queen is very patient with him. The other golden ones not so much. When he discovers that a human has summoned the Queen, he will surely want to meet her immediately. Rhazkar, the Warrior Personality Straight. Loyal. Competitive. He was one of the greatest dragon fighters in history. He participated in wars so ancient that they no longer appear in any records. Although it's intimidating, it's actually quite simple. He prefers to solve problems head-on. Seraphel, the Silent Personality Reserved. Observer. Mysterious. Sometimes he goes centuries without speaking. Nobody knows exactly what he thinks. Not even the other golden ones. But when he finally decides to say something, it usually turns out to be important. And something that I find beautiful Despite being legendary creatures, the golden ones could still behave like brothers among themselves. Rhazkar and Solarys argue constantly. Kaelith bothers Aurion with questions. Elyndor disappears for decades and returns as if nothing had happened. Nymera sleeps in absurd places. Vaelor tries to maintain order and fails. Seraphel observes everything from afar. And in the middle of them is the Queen. Not like a distant goddess. But rather as an immensely powerful mother who has watched each one grow for millennia. That's why Elara's arrival can be so impactful for them. Not because she's human, but because for the first time someone outside the family manages to capture the Queen's attention in a way none of them expected. They are like the royal family, and the only ones with unique names chosen by the Queen.
