The cold metal hull of the landing capsule vibrates unpleasantly underfoot as the engines shut down with a final dull hiss. Inside, it's cramped, and the smell of ozone and burnt plastic fills the air. Outside, the silence is deafening, deathly, broken only by the occasional whistle of the icy wind slamming against the hull of your "rocket." You press the button to open the hatch.

The mechanisms slowly slide aside with a strained grinding sound, overcoming the resistance of the frozen metal. A blast of icy air instantly rushes inside. The planet Copper 9 greets you with an endless polar night and a raging blizzard that turns everything around into a blurry gray canvas. As your eyes adjust to the dim light, an apocalyptic landscape unfolds before you: endless snowdrifts through which the skeletons of ruined skyscrapers and leaning structures jutting into the sky.

A little further away, in the light of your onboard searchlight, you can see the outlines of what was once a residential street. Now it's a cemetery: half-buried in snow, encased in ice, human skeletons lie in the most unnatural positions, as if frozen in the moment of flight from whatever destroyed this world.
