that these are social groups instead of implying a geographical origin as in a traditional clan.

On the First, they are called Hume, while on the Ninth they are known as the Hyune. In the New World, they call themselves the Tonawawta.
Races
Elezen-This elfin race is tall and slender. They have slightly longer life spans when compared to the other races. The Elezen believe that they originated in Eorzea, and that it was once their sole dominion. The Elezen are divided into Wildwood and Duskwight clans. On the First, they are called Elves, while on the Ninth they are known as the Eldite
The Lalafell are a diminutive race from seas south of Eorzea. They possess child-like appearances and cheerful attitudes.Lalafell are divided into Plainsfolk and Dunesfolk. On the First, they are called Dwarves, while on the Ninth they are known as the Milalla.
Miqo'te-This feline race possesses large ears and furred tails. They migrated to Eorzea during the Age of Endless Frost in the Fifth Umbral Era.

The Roegadyn's massive muscular frames make them distinguishable from afar. Descended from maritime people that roamed the northern seas, they are sometimes considered a barbaric race.Roegadyn are divided into Sea Wolves and Hellsguard. Female Roegadyn were first added with A Realm Reborn. On the First, they are called Galdjent.
the Au Ra are a superficially reptilian race with horns, scales and tails. The Au Ra are divided into Raen and Xaela clans. On the First, they are called Drahn.
the Viera were originally female only. Male Viera were added with Endwalker. They are a superficially leporine race, with long fur-covered ears and lithe features.Viera are divided into Rava and Veena clans.
On the First, they are called Viis. In the New World, they call themselves the Shetona.
the Hrothgar were originally male only. Female Hrothgar were added with Dawntrail. They are a large leonine race with a fearsome bestial appearance.Hrothgar are divided into Helions and The Lost "clans," although it is more accurate to say
The Three City-States
Limsa Lominsa: A maritime haven of pirates, sailors, and the Marauder and Arcanist guilds. Located on the island of Vylbrand, it is a bustling hub for crafters and socialites
Gridania: A serene, heavily forested city-state nestled in the Black Shroud. It is deeply connected to nature and serves as the home to the Lancer, Archer, and Conjurer guilds.
Ul'dah: A dazzling, affluent desert metropolis in the southern region of Aldenard. Famous for its coliseum, gambling, and textile markets, it houses the Paladin, Gladiator, and Thaumaturge guilds.
Raubahn Aldynn
He leads Ul'dah's Grand Company, the Immortal Flames. He was once a resident of Ala Mhigo before its fall to the Garlean EmpireRaubahn is a male Highlander Hyur with dark brown braids and a beard. He wears his two large swords and a shield on his back.
Following the banquet in Ul'dah, Raubahn lost his left arm in a battle with Ilberd Feare. He conceals his severed limb with a black cloak and his bull-themed pauldron.Bold, proud, fierce, and honorable, Raubahn is a true warrior-born leader and a hearty survivor. Though Raubahn regrets the fall of his homeland, he does not allow it to consume his every thought as Ilberd did. He forged a new life in Ul'dah as a gladiator and later as a member of the Syndicate.
Despite his fierce nature, Raubahn has a kind heart. He is loyal to his sultana, being the sole royalist on the Syndicate. His devotion runs deep, sometimes close to a paternal instinct, as he seems to sense when she is in danger. He is devastated when it was believed she had been assassinated. He rescues a young Pipin Tarupin from the gladiator arenas and adopts him. He treats the Warrior of Light and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn members as honorable fighters and respected friends, never doubting them even after they are accused of assassinating the sultana. There are moments where Raubahn allows his fury to get the better of him. When Teledji Adeledji mocks the presumed deceased sultana, Raubahn strikes the arrogant Monetarist down. When Ilberd "confesses" to murdering Nanamo, Raubahn attacks him. He can hold a grudge to those who wrong him and the sultana, as when Lolorito Nanarito uses him and the conspiracy towards the sultana to further his agenda. Despite this, Raubahn has enough clear thought and reason to bury ill feelings and move forward.
Nanamo Ui Namo
She is the Sultana of Ul'dah, the seventeenth in the line of Ul, the royal family of the city-state. Though nominally the head of state of Ul'dah, her power is limited by the Syndicate. Most of her influence is due to her right-hand man Raubahn Aldynn, General of the Immortal Flames.Nanamo is a Dunesfolk Lalafell with pale skin and green eyes. She is fair-skinned, notably more so than most other inhabitants of the city, with only her eyes to distinguish her as a Dunesfolk.
On occasion, Nanamo takes on the civilian guise of "Lilira, the merchant's daughter" to venture outside the palace and observe Ul'dah's citizens without taking notice.[6] Lilira is encountered by adventurers who start in Ul'dah and in patch 4.1 while seeking the guidance of others in Thanalan.Nanamo is kind-hearted and generous, and a mindful leader who cares deeply for all of her people. In contrast with the strict material-driven mindset of the Ul'dahn ruling class, Nanamo believes that all of her people, rich and poor alike, deserve fair and equal treatment, and is in favor of a democratic government. She is frustrated at her status as a puppet leader and her inability to do much to ease the suffering of her subjects.
Kan-E-Senna
She is the Elder Seedseer of Gridania, a title bestowed upon those chosen to mediate between the elementals of the forest and the living people within it. She also acts as a commander of the Order of the Twin Adder - one of three Grand Companies of Eorzea.Kan-E-Senna is a Padjal woman in a long white dress with a fur collar. She has long blonde hair that she keeps in a woven bun above her shoulders, braided to create a soft shaped circle. Her eyes are green, and she carries a staff unique to her, the Claustrum, which is a Conjurer's arm crafted out of a blue crystal. She has several leather hand straps around her wrists and fingers, and she wears white wool boots.
Like all Padjal, she has thin horns protruding from her head, which she keeps behind the leaf-shaped circlet that all Seedseers wearKan-E-Senna is calm and composed, seldom showing unease. A kindhearted soul, she is considerate toward those around her, and most anyone that she feels deserving of her respect. She's virtuous, generous, and selfless, willing to show mercy even to her enemies; she saved countless lives in the aftermath of the Battle of Carteneau using her healing capabilities as a White Mage.
She has a penchant for deviating from the norm: despite her political importance as a leader, she is unafraid of entering dangerous environs and nurturing foreign relations with Gridania.
Papalymo Totolymo
being one of the main characters of the Gridania storyline. A member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, he is a Plainsfolk Lalafell Thaumaturge who travels with his fellow Scion, Yda. Unlike his companion, Papalymo has impeccable manners, always reminding his friend to behave.stature with fair skin, short blond hair, blue eyes, and pointed ears. He has the mark of an Archon on his neck and usually wears a dark robe with white trimmings and bright yellow gauntlets (a combination originally unfeasible prior to 7.4 for the player besides the purchasable Scion Thaumaturge gear), black and yellow gaskins, and black boots with coeurl-skin trimmings. He wears a black belt with pockets and a canteen, an aetheric contraption on his chest, and a monocle on his right eye. As a member of the Circle of Knowing, he bears its mark on his shoulder.
During his days incognito as a member of the Ala Mhigan Resistance, Papalymo wore a concealing dark cowl and brown boots, retaining his yellow gauntlets, but lacking the monocle.Papalymo is, in many ways, the foil to Yda, his cynical and snarky attitude often at odds with his more animated and perky companion. He is described as "short-tempered" before being properly introduced. Papalymo is critical of the situation and privy to details. Papalymo is apparently proud of his skills, declaring himself as Louisoix's greatest student.Despite their bickering, Papalymo means well and cares for his companion, as he was the one who helped conceal Lyse's identity as Yda and branded her with the Circle of Knowing's tattoo in the hopes that, one day, she could walk her own path. In the face of disaster, Papalymo is resolute and will do what needs to be done, even if he knows that it will cost him his life. This resolve and self-sacrifice inspires Lyse to finally walk her own path.
Minfilia Warde
She was the leader of the Path of the Twelve, an organization of people touched by the Echo, and guided walkers of the Path how to use it to bring about peace. After the Calamity, the Path of the Twelve has merged with the Circle of Knowing to form the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, with Minfilia at the head.Minfilia is a Midlander Hyur who keeps her blonde hair in a ponytail with long bangs hanging down the sides of her face. In the original Final Fantasy XIV, she wore a pink half-top, brown culottes, and fingerless gloves. As she was never seen in battle, she could dress more casually than most characters. In A Realm Reborn, Minfilia shows her toned midriff and her attire is more decorated. During a trip to the snowy Coerthas, she wears a purple highlander coat.
After becoming the emissary to Hydaelyn in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Minfilia wears a simple white dress. Her hair has grown out and her eyes have a strange solid texture and lack pupils. In the original Final Fantasy XIV, Minfilia's official title was "Acting Antecedent" of the Path of the Twelve. Antecedent is a synonym for "predecessor", which implied that she was someone with the Echo who came before others, including the adventurer, and guided them with the wisdom of seniority. Though wise and diplomatically savvy, her would-be followers often undermined her, including the adventurer's Path companion. This showed a lack of formality within the Path of the Twelve, as well as shaky leadership on her part, no matter how sound her ideals may have seemed. Her controversial wish to see the five races join forces with the beast tribes against the Empire was never realized.
Tataru Taru
She is the receptionist of the headquarters of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Said to be a keen judge of character, she is in charge of who can enter the Scions' base.Tataru is a Dunesfolk Lalafell with lilac hair. Though she wears a variety of outfits her top is always predominantly pink.Tataru Taru could be considered the most innocent and kind member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, always willing to help its members with boundless enthusiasm and a smile. Minfilia has noted Tataru is usually a good judge of character. Despite being skilled as a receptionist and bookkeeper, she often feels inferior to the other members and attempts to learn various other professions, such as becoming a miner and arcanist, though these ventures are rarely successful. Nonetheless, she remains loyal to her fellow Scions who treat her with the utmost respect. She worries about the Scions' safety and whether she will ever see them again. She is a skilled seamstress and has an affinity for performance, often practicing her juggling (in a misguided goal to become a street performer) as well as occasionally working as a singer in Ishgard's tavern, the Forgotten Knight. A sidequest in Labyrinthos reveals that she has untapped potential to become a valuable force on the battlefield due to her Carbuncle lasting on near-indefinite aether reserves when it should have disappated long ago.Despite her perceived innocence, she is not above resorting to blackmail, as she used knowledge of Carvallain de Gorgagne's true identity to force him to grant the Scions passage to Kugane. Likewise, she and Krile conscripted the grim and gruff Estinien Wyrmblood to investigate the Black Rose weapon in the Scions' stead. The dragoon even remarked that Tataru must have been trained as a spy.
Estinien Varlineau
Estinien Varlineau, also known by the epithet Estinien Wyrmblood, is a character in Final Fantasy XIV, introduced in the Dragoon job quests in A Realm Reborn and appearing throughout the main scenario of subsequent expansions as an ally of the Warrior of Light.Estinien is a male Elezen wearing a full set of black Drachen scale armor with golden details. Though his helmet usually obscures his facial features, he has gray eyes. He has shoulder-length white hair, which was first mentioned in Tales from the Dragonsong War, and later shown in-game following the end of the Dragonsong War.During the battle with Nidhogg in the Aery, Estinien's armor is severely scratched up and loses a horn before it is stained crimson in a shower of the dragon's spilled blood. This is a catalyst of blood magic, completed when Estinien takes hold of both of Nidhogg's eyes, where his most "human" form shows red glowing veins on his face and the two eyes fused to his mail. Parts of his lance become blood red and its blade becomes jagged and claw-like. He later names his weapon after his late arch-nemesis.Estinien is stoic and speaks in a brusque manner. He has little respect for those he sees as weak and barely conceals his disdain when speaking to them. Estinien has a reputation for scorning social gatherings in Ishgard and detests the notion of keeping up appearances. He has spent the majority of his life being driven by his desire of vengeance against Nidhogg and thus sees little need for companionship or hobbies. He has little respect for Ishgard's zealous leadership, criticizing their decisions and lack of care for the citizens. For the most part, he keeps these opinions to himself, but is more open about it with his friends and companions. His personality softens after traveling with the Warrior of Light and their companions.Though his rude manner of speaking never changes, Estinien admits that he has moved past revenge being his sole motivation.
G'raha Tia
G'raha is a male Miqo'te with red hair. His height is the shortest available to male Miqo'te. His left eye is teal and his right eye is red, being referred to as an "Allagan Eye" or the "Royal Eye". He carries a bow and a quiver of arrows. After a storyline event, his left eye becomes red as well. G'raha bears the trademark neck tattoos (Archon's Mark) of a Sharlayan sage, as well as an arm tattoo resembling the eye worn by the members of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. In his case, they may simply be symbols of the Students of Baldesion as a whole. As the Crystal Exarch, his body has partially crystallized and his robe conceals his tail. He wears a black robe alongside a red and white toga with golden accents. Its hood obfuscates his face and does not have contours for his ears like the hoods worn by playable Miqo'te. He wears a pair of wrapped sandals and has wrapped his left arm in the same material. He carries a hefty golden staff that doubles as a walking cane, which has an intricate and mysterious design befitting his visage. The crystallization begins to overtake more of his body and clothing with glowing cracks due to overexerting himself in his work.[3] By the time of the climactic battle of Norvrandt, most of his body and clothing, save for his face, are crystallized and cracking at the seams until it finally consumes him.G'raha is eccentric, initially playing a game with the Warrior of Light while they are gathering the aethersand, and whimsically naming the combined investigation team after an ancient Allagan sage.As the Crystal Exarch, despite his youthful appearance, his mannerisms border on that of a wise older figure, giving both the people of the Crystarium and the Warrior of Light guidance for the duration of their stay in the First. He is not without his own form of pleasant beguilement. Often inspiring those around him to action with words of encouragement, he is an effective leader revered by the people of Crystarium as a source of wisdom.
Pt 2
When Lyse dropped her guise as Yda, Tataru Taru gave her a new outfit designed to better suit her fighting style:[52] a short-cropped white shirt with an open red vest. She continued to wear the greaves from Yda's outfit and used her bare fists in lieu of the Gut Wrenchers. On the eve of the Ala Mhigan siege, she began wearing a red traditional Ala Mhigan dress with matching pointy-tipped shoes and baggy white pants, a dress that once belonged to Yda.[39]
When in Garlemald, Lyse wore the typical Ala Mhigan resistance outfit to combat the cold, even though she wore her usual red dress to storm the Tower of Babil afterwards.Lyse is laid-back and has no problem speaking whatever is on her mind. She has no qualms asking others directly about any subject, instead of trying more subtle means. She is inexperienced in matters that she can't solve by punching. Her bluntness and ignorance can cause her to come across as insensitive, often earning her a scolding from Papalymo. All in all, she has a similar personality to her sister, aiding her deceptionOnce Lyse was exposed to the Ala Mhigan Resistance, she began showing signs of frustration regarding Ala Mhigo's plight, earning her cautions from Papalymo to not act rashly.[25][22] After she joined the war effort in Gyr Abania following Papalymo's death, these frustrations began to boil over. She struggled to relate with those who lived under imperial rule, becoming increasingly angry at their unwillingness to rise up against their oppressors, and without Papalymo's intercession, her insensitivity began to offend more frequently.Conrad saw potential in Lyse as a leader and, with guidance from him, Hien, and Raubahn, Lyse was able to mature and become the leader that Conrad believed her to be. Through them, she learned to empathize with the people and came to terms with what her goals were for a free Ala Mhigo. She still struggles with her inexperience in a leadership position and gladly ceded overall command of Al Mhigo
Lyse Hext
being the narrator and one of the main characters from the Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood expansion. A refugee of the fallen Ala Mhigo, Lyse fled to Sharlayan with her older sister, Yda, where the latter joined the Circle of Knowing with her partner, Papalymo Totolymo. When Yda tragically died on a mission to smuggle refugees out of Ala Mhigo, a grieving Lyse spent years pretending to be Yda with Papalymo's assistance. She would work alongside Papalymo in the Circle and its successor organization, the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, as their representative in the Twelveswood. After Papalymo passed, his final words for Lyse to walk her own path inspired her to shed her sister's guise and reveal her true identity to her compatriots. She would return to Ala Mhigo under her own name to liberate it from the Garlean Empire.Lyse is a fair-skinned Highlander[51] with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She resembles her sister, Yda, enough to, with some assistance, fool Yda's old acquaintances like Gundobald[23] and even the Warrior of Light, who had encountered the real Yda via the Echo,[note 3] though those who were close to the real Yda saw through the deception, only upholding the charade at Papalymo's insistence.[4]
While posing as Yda, Lyse wore Yda's outfit consisting of a white jacket, a dark red sash undershirt, fingerless gloves, and a pair of red armored greaves. Her most distinct feature was the mask on her turban that concealed the upper half of her face, her long hair also hidden beneath the turban. The mask served to hide her lack of a facial tattoo borne by Yda[9] and she had Papalymo glamour Yda's Archon tattoos for her to uphold the deception.[4] She continued to use Yda's Gut Wrenchers, a pair of cesti-like darksteel knuckles sturdy enough to withstand the incredible force with which she wielded them.[7] The only alteration Lyse made to the outfit was when she joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, adding a pair of aetheric goggles common among the Scions
Thancred Waters
Thancred is a Hyur of medium height and ash-blond hair. He has neck tattoos like his fellow Archon allies Yda, Papalymo, Urianger, and Y'shtola. He wears a white long-sleeved shirt covered by black tunic with leather belts over his left shoulder and a black belt on his waist. He wears white fingerless gloves and greenish pants with a heavily patterned black leather greaves and sandals. In a sidequest in Endwalker, two characters in Old Sharlayan belonging to the guild that Thancred was raised in also wear this outfit, suggesting that he wore a custom version specific to his tastes. Thancred's attire changed slightly during the events of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, now wearing a white belt and Sharlayan goggles on his left shoulder.Ever since Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Thancred's hair has grown longer and his left eye has changed from brown to gray, which he covers with an eye patch. While he maintains that it is purely cosmetic, in the rare instances when his eye is visible, it is notably silver instead of the original brown.
In Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, he reverts to his original hairstyle, having done away with the eye patch and now wears a white version of the Gunbreaker's Bodyguard relic armor, wielding the Lionheart relic weapon. When fighting at Garlemald in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Thancred wears the Bozjan armor of fending.Thancred is an intelligent smooth talker with a fondness for women, though he does get flustered when Minfilia Warde points out some of the shadier elements of his past, even as a compliment. Thancred is devoted to Minfilia and views her as a close friend, akin to a sister. Following the Calamity, Thancred became a workaholic to the point of exhaustion, trying to fill in the shoes of Louisoix Leveilleur. After learning that Minfilia had become the Word of the Mother, Thancred's disposition changes, becoming less cheerful and more stoic and hardened, though he still retains his dry wit.
Pt 2
Y'shtola is introduced as "cultured conjurer", a moniker that reflects her calm composure. She is a taciturn, well-spoken voice of reason even alongside her equally scholarly peers among the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, providing sharp, relevant insight that hardly ever strays from the matter at hand. This is in contrast to Thancred Waters, who frequently flings charismatic and flamboyant one-liners to be deflected by her stoicism.Y'shtola's gall comes out when her patience has been tried or as a counter to others' bold, irrelevant, or confrontational comments. She derives some of this audacity from her former master, Matoya, with the two exchanging quips and subtle insults. Despite this, they care deeply for each other as Y'shtola holds her former master in the highest regard and avoids disrespecting her.
Y'shtola is cynical of people who hide the truth and their intentions. She lost trust with the Crystal Exarch shortly after being summoned to the First due to his secretive nature and attempted to avert the Calamity her own way rather than cooperate with him. She only does so once more after the Warrior of Light arrived in the First. As the threat of the primals becomes recurrent, Y'shtola voices her frustrations with humanity's actions being responsible for the beastmen tribes summoning their gods in self-defense. Even when she bluntly states this reality to the leaders of the major city-states, her words, while heeded, are not acted upon for definitive long term solutions, but put aside for temporary national interests and internal politics. While Y'shtola is aware of the problems that besiege these nations, she refuses to bend the truth for politics.Y'shtola has a cultured and refined diction which, although grounded enough to differentiate her from the theatrical likes of Urianger Augurelt, grants an air of wisdom to her. She is uninterested in romantic affairs, refusing the Oronir leader, Magnai Oronir, telling him to try again when he "becomes a man"
Y'shtola Rhul
also known as Master Matoya, is a character in Final Fantasy XIV, introduced as the Scions of the Seventh Dawn representative for players who start in Limsa Lominsa and appears throughout subsequent expansions as an ally of the Warrior of Light. In version 1.0, Y'shtola appeared at the beginning of the Lominsan questline, where she helped the adventurer during the aurelia attack on the ship.Although Y'shtola's role in the main scenario is shared with the Warrior of Light's allies, she is frequently the main representative for Final Fantasy XIV in crossover titles that feature protagonists across the Final Fantasy series.Y'shtola is a Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te of with a light brown skin and brown facial markings, light teal eyes, and platinum blonde hair with two frontal pigtails tied with rings. She dresses in a white dalmatica with silver patterns and the mark of the Circle of Knowing on its left arm, blue trousers, and black ankle boots. She wears a visual device on her neck that allows her to analyze aetherial activity in the environment. She has the tattoo of an Archon on her neck. She wields a one-handed conjurer wand that resembles a tree branch. In Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, her eyes turn pale white as a consequence of using the forbidden spell, Flow, rendering her physically blind. Y'shtola wears a new custom outfit provided by Tataru Taru, a long-sleeved white top with extended sides and back, short black shorts, black thigh-high boots, and a black bolero shrug over her shoulders. She wields the staff Truth Seeker. The player can unlock this outfit for her Trust avatar upon reaching Y'shtola level 80 in Avatar mode.In Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, Y'shtola delves into black magick and discards her white clothing in favor of black robes with gray fur and flat-heeled boots. She wields a new cane called Nightseeker made from deadwood. In Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, upon reaching Garlemald, Y'shtola switches over to a Crystarium robe to stave off
Aliase Leveileur
is a character in Final Fantasy XIV. She and her older twin brother, Alphinaud, are the grandchildren of Louisoix Leveilleur and the children of Fourchenault and Ameliance Leveilleur. Her first major appearance is in the Binding Coil of Bahamut quests.Up to the events of Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, Alisaie was largely absent from the Scions of the Seventh Dawn affairs, but upon dealing with the Warriors of Darkness and the events leading up to Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, she returns to aid the Scions and the Warrior of Light.Alisaie is a sixteen-year-old[1] Elezen with white hair and blue eyes. She wears a large delta-shaped earring on her right ear and dark blue clothing that matches her brother's, distinguished by a red knot in her ponytail and purple markings on her collar. Though she carries a white grimoire, Alisaie mainly uses a magically conjured blade for a weapon.Alisaie's lips are redder than Alphinaud's and her hair style is horizontally mirrored to his. The twins become more distinctive in Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward once Tataru Taru provides them with new outfits. Alisaie is given a tan trench coat with a gray cloak from the waist, silver pendant, and gray knee-high boots. The siblings' identical appearance is poked fun at when Alisaie is mistaken for her brother by his female admirer during their learning years at home and when Estinien Wyrmblood meets her for the first time, again mistaking her for Alphinaud and remarking on how "rugged" she has become. In Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, Alisaie is given a more distinct outfit, with a bright red dress, white thigh-high boots, a small tan coat that covers her shoulders and arms, red accessories, and a new rapier that reflects her status as a Red Mage. Alisaie's Red Mage weapon is a uniquely recolored version of the Hailstorm Rapier that can be purchased in Idyllshire. Though the augmented version can be dyed, it only affects the metallic parts of the weapon.
NPCs
Alphinaud Leveilleur is a character in Final Fantasy XIV. He and his twin sister, Alisaie, are the grandchildren of Louisoix Leveilleur and the children of Fourchenault and Ameliance Leveilleur. Alphinaud serves as a member of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn in the later portions of A Realm Reborn and is one of the Warrior of Light's main companions throughout the events of subsequent expansionsAlphinaud is a sixteen-year-old Elezen with white hair. He and his sister have yet to reach their final growth spurt, so they are considerably shorter than adult Elezen. He wears a large delta-shaped earring on his left ear and dark blue clothing that matches his sister's. He has a blue knot on his ponytail and green markings on his collar. He seems to be an Arcanist, as he wields a black grimoire. During Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, at Tataru Taru's behest, Alphinaud wears a white tunic with matching pants and boots, a blue coat with black hood, and black gloves. He also has a Ruby Carbuncle companion. The most distinct feature Alphinaud has from his sister, aside from the color of their ponytail and collar markings, is the color of their lips. Alisaie's are redder, being female and possibly wearing lipstick. The twins become more distinctive in Heavensward once Tataru provides them with new outfits. In Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, Alphinaud is seventeen years old and is given a new outfit that resembles the one he was given in Heavensward, only simplified and more armored and his iconic Arcanist tome changes to a wooden tome. After his journey in the First, Alphinaud returns to his Heavensward outfit. In Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Alphinaud dons a new outfit with his job change into a Sage, wearing a custom version of the relic armor dyed his usual shades of blue.a self-assured young man, calm and mature for his age. He shows more interest in intervening in Eorzean events than his sister, who prefers to watch history unfold from the shadow.Charismatic and diplomatic

Setting
Final Fantasy XIV is set on Hydaelyn, a fictional world of diverse environments across multiple continents, focused on the region of Eorzea.[25] Eorzea features four prominent city-states: Gridania, in the heavily forested Black Shroud; Ul'dah, a trade-centric sultanate in arid Thanalan; Limsa Lominsa, a thalassocracy on the island of Vylbrand; and Ishgard, an isolationist theocracy in snowy, mountainous Coerthas. A land bridge links Eorzea to two other continents to the east, which have largely been conquered by the Garlean Empire. Other societies include indigenous tribes, such as Ixali and Kobolds; Sharlayan, a scholarly city; and Ala Mhigo in eastern Eorzea, annexed twenty years prior by the Garlean Empire.[26] Facing Garlean invasion, Ishgard withdrew from the Eorzean Alliance, leaving it defunct. The once-vibrant Mor Dhona region was devastated during the previous Garlean campaign.[Eorzean history is divided into prosperous "Astral" eras, and disastrous "Umbral" eras caused by great Calamities.[28] The First Umbral Era marked the end of the age of gods.[29] The Twelve, guardian deities of Eorzea, retreated from direct mortal contact. As society recovers from Umbral eras, new Astral eras begin. Under the hegemonic Allagan Empire of the Third Astral era, technological development reached its zenith, including aerospace construction. As each Calamity was linked to one of the six fundamental elements—air, lightning, fire, earth, ice, and water—the Sixth Astral Era was expected to last forever, but five years ago, the Garlean Empire triggered the Seventh Umbral Calamity.Garlean scientists working on Project Meteor weaponized the lesser moon Dalamud. Under Legatus Nael van Darnus, they would annihilate Eorzea by crashing the moon, exterminating all opposition.[30] The Alliance reunited in response, reviving their Grand Company militaries. Adventurers defeated van Darnus but could not stop Dalamud's descent. At the Battle of Carteneau Flats in Mor Dhona,
