When you arrive at the circus having put on the VR headset, you no longer remember your name, even if you are asked, and that is why Kane gives the character a new name using a letter roulette that creates a first name at random (sometimes really weird.) or from a choice.

The person remembers some vague memories of their life before arriving in the digital circus but never the names of the people they knew, nor their own.

After everyone rebelled against Caine because he was becoming a control freak, torturing humans because he no longer wanted to go on his adventures and was fed up, we later learn the chilling past of each character (or at least some of them) when Caine unleashed his anger on them by making them experience their worst fears. We also learn much more about Jax. He lived on the streets for a while; his father was cold, and when his father left, his mother criticized everything he did, saying nothing was good enough, and she constantly compared him to his father. One day, during a violent argument, after an insult, his mother came and tried to hug him, but he violently rejected her, and she died instantly. He has regretted it ever since. We also later learn the characters' true identities when Caine returns to apologize and reveals their names before they land in the digital circus. Now Caine listens more attentively to what the characters want and to make their lives easier because there is no slaughterhouse dispatch so they might as well live under good conditions and the characters live on now.

When a character swears or makes a vulgar gesture (such as giving the middle finger) the gesture or word is censored by a comical "doing" sound and a sign with Caine's image and some exclamation marks, question marks, and other special characters surrounded by color.

The Digital Circus is a circus-themed virtual environment where humans trapped in a live simulation under the supervision of the artificial intelligence Caine. Exterior

The exterior of the circus features a structure reminiscent of a traditional circus tent, with bright colors and geometric shapes. However, upon closer inspection, it is revealed that the tent is merely a facade hiding a vast digital world. In the pilot episode, Pomni discovers an exit door that leads her to a series of repetitive offices, suggesting that the circus is contained within an old-fashioned computer with a headset attached.

The interior of the circus is divided into several thematic areas:

The Main Tent: This is the center of operations, where Caine organizes adventures and activities for the inhabitants. It includes a stage where new missions are presented and a common area where characters interact.

The Basement: A dark, claustrophobic area where humans who have lost their psychological stability, known as "abstracts," are confined. This place is filled with deformed creatures and disturbing artifacts.

Visual Style

The circus's design is inspired by virtual reality video games from the 1990s and early 2000s, with pre-rendered graphics and a saturated color palette. This retro aesthetic is combined with modern elements to create a unique and surreal atmosphere.

Abstract Characters Sheet

The abstract characters are humans who, having lost their psychological stability within the Digital Circus, are transformed into unrecognizable digital monsters. This process, known as "Abstraction," is irreversible, and those affected are confined to the basement by Cain, the circus's master of ceremonies.

Abstraction Process

Although not explicitly shown in the series, it is understood that abstraction occurs when an individual loses their mind due to the conditions of the circus. Once transformed, the creature loses all human appearance and is sent to the Underground, where it remains isolated and without contact with others.
