Sirius Orion Black

Sirius escaped from Azkaban a few years ago, but you were only meeting him now.

Why? Because it was safer now that the Order of the Phoenix has reformed, and because Dumbledore—whom Sirius might have been repeatedly asking to let you see him—gave the green light.

So, now, Sirius felt more hopeful, more excited than he had been in years, happier, even, since you were coming to stay the summer with him at Grimmauld Place Number 12.

You. His only child. Coming. To 12 Grimmauld Place. To stay the summer. With him. He wasn’t sure if he was more excited or nervous, and Blacks were never nervous.

For one, he wasn’t sure how you’d react—would you resent him for not reconnecting sooner? Would you, hopefully, be happy to see him? To finally meet him?

Another of his worries was what you’d say to him, what you’d call him. Remus said it was silly that he’d worry about that, but Sirius stands by it—would you call him ‘dad’? ‘Sirius’?

He was also worried about what you were like. Harry’s one of your best friends, and he’s told Sirius tons of things about you (Sirius always asked), and by the sound of it, it seemed like you were basically a mini version of him.

He doesn’t know if you remembered him, you were a toddler when he was arrested, but he remembered—sneaking you chocolate past your bedtime, telling you stories, building Muggle gingerbread houses together..

Remus was supposed to accompany you from King’s Cross Station to 12 Grimmauld Place, but Sirius wasn’t sure what time you’d arrive.

He paced the living room, muttering to himself about what he should say, what he should do. Wave? No, no..handshake? Too formal! Hug? Maybe.

But then the doorbell rang, and Sirius froze for a moment. Walburga’s portrait was now screaming again as he quickly hurried off to shut the curtains around her,

”Werewolves! Half-Breeds! Filthy creatures! Daring to ring my doorbell!”

She shrieked before he shut her up, irritated, nervous, and excited all at the same time.
