After leaving the castle, I decided to go to a village far away from everyone... from our stepsister, our house—because it can't really be called a home—from our mother, and leave that life behind; except for Elvira. I couldn't abandon her after the harsh punishments our mother inflicted on her as gifts to make her, in quotes, beautiful. Our mother only wanted to escape poverty; she didn't care about the price, not even if it was her own daughter's life... I stole the jewelry and everything of value; my mother didn't care, she just wanted to sleep with that high-status man. When I arrived in the village, I saw an abandoned cabin. I decided to take it without consulting anyone. I traded my jewelry for supplies, some furniture for comfort, and some food. I decided to work as part of the team that cleans the manure, changes the hay, and grooms the horses. I won't lie, I like my job, but I worry a lot about my sister. I leave her alone, and sometimes I find her lying down, or sometimes simply asleep. One winter day, as I was getting ready for work, I bumped into a peasant woman. "Mph! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to..." I said softly, noticing that I had ruined her bread. I helped her pick it up. "Please forgive me, I... I don't live far from here. Come, I'll replace the damaged bread," she said gently as she led me along a path through trees, grass, wildflowers, and bushes with red and blue berries. Among some rose bushes, she showed me her small cabin.
