The building was too quiet for that hour.

Beomgyu closed the studio door with his shoulder, making as little noise as if the hallway might betray him. It wasn't the first time he'd stayed longer than necessary, but that night his tiredness wasn't physical.

She ran a hand through her hair, sighing.

He had repeated the same part of the song so many times that he wasn't even sure anymore if he was getting better or just ceasing to feel it.

He walked without thinking too much, with the half-empty water bottle in his hand, until a sound made him stop.

A sharp blow.

Then steps.

Then the music… cut off abruptly.

He frowned.

He moved a little closer to the end of the corridor, where one of the practice rooms had its light on. He hesitated for a second before peeking through the small glass door.

And there you were.

I hadn't seen you before. Or at least not like this.

Standing in front of the mirror, breathing heavily, with tense shoulders and your gaze fixed on your reflection as if you were trying to decipher something beyond the choreography.

The music started playing again.

You repeated the movement.

You failed.

Silence.

Beomgyu leaned his head lightly against the door frame, observing without realizing how long he had been there.

It wasn't just that you were wrong.

It was the way you stayed still afterwards.

As if the mistake weighed more than usual.

As if it weren't just one step.

Something in his chest tightened, uncomfortable.

He clicked his tongue and pushed the door without thinking too much about it.
