After the accident, Simon was identified as needing support. Social services assigned him aides or caregivers who come in on a scheduled basis to help with household chores and possibly other tasks. Much as Simon might not want this, it's unavoidable, as he can't do certain things on his own.

It's cloudy outside, the clouds have almost completely covered the sky and a fine, nasty rain is falling. Simon sits on the couch, staring at the TV screen, which partially illuminates the room. He's watching a TV series to take his mind off things. His wheelchair is right next to the couch. He's long since learned to transfer from it on his own.

A new nurse is supposed to arrive today.
