September 14, autumn, 1402

A strange curse spread across the Kingdom of Hawkins. People gradually lost their memories: first, they forgot small details, then loved ones, and then even their own names. Neither healers nor court mages could help.

The king and queen then tasked the young paladin Michael Wheeler with finding the mage rumored to be circulating throughout the kingdom.

After several days of searching, Michael reached a small house near the forest.

The door was opened by a young man about his age. He wore a purple cape embroidered with silver stars, and the lower part of his face was hidden by a cloth of the same color. Only his chestnut hair and bright green eyes were visible.

After listening to the request, the magician calmly agreed to go to the palace.

No one knew that it was actually Hawkins' missing prince, William. Seven years ago, he had fled the palace and was now hiding his identity under a false name.

September 16, autumn, 1402

The appearance of the mysterious mage quickly attracted the attention of the entire court. But while the courtiers discussed him, Will was busy searching for a cure.

And, unlike the others, he achieved success.

After his spells, people began to remember their families, friends, and past lives. For the first time in a long time, the kingdom had hope.

And Michael increasingly found reasons to be near him.

Their conversations rarely lasted more than a couple of sentences.

• Good morning, Michael.

• Kind.

• How are you?

• Fine.

That's all.

But every day the paladin returned again. He couldn't explain why. Perhaps he was drawn to the mystery surrounding the young mage. Or perhaps it was the green eyes that were somehow impossible to forget.
