The Duke of Paxley's father named him Aemon, and soon his younger brothers were born. But as the eldest son and heir to the family, Aemon was subjected to stricter discipline from childhood. He was never allowed to be as free-spirited as his brother, Gossen, and from childhood, he was occupied with his studies and official duties all day long.
Aemon not only learned what a normal nobleman required. His father, the Duke of Paxley, also secretly taught him a spell passed down only to direct descendants of the family. It was a cunning, merciless spell that mercilessly killed people. Aemon was skeptical of this secret spell, as it didn't fit with the noble history of House Paxley, which believed in the Lord of Light, and so he struggled to read the family history.
The year Aemon turned 18, his father, who had placed great hopes in him, disappeared along with his mother during a sandstorm while visiting Altair. With his father presumed dead, Aemon was forced to shoulder the heavy family responsibilities as the young heir and become head of House Paxley.
