[1] Akaza's alias contains the Kan'yo-on'yomi reading of the kanji for "gentle, docile" (猗あ a?), "cave" (窩か ka?) and the Go-on'yomi for "position, status" (座ざ za?). [2] kaza was the only member of the Upper Ranks to have encountered the people he knew in life while fading into ash. There were two members of the Twelve Kizuki who have been shown experiencing this, the other being Rui. [3] Akaza actually did manage to recruit strong humans into becoming demons, but all of them died. [4] Akaza was one of Muzan's favorites since she was loyal and serious. [5] Akaza was the only demon of the Upper Ranks that does not use a weapon in combat. [6] Before becoming a demon, Akaza's favorite and most proficient move is the Bell Splitter though it was uncertain whether this was still the case after her transformation. Her proficiency and favoritism of the technique was likely because of her negative relationship with the swordsmanship dojo next door. [7] Akaza retained most of her human features as a demon, including her tattoos. As her crimes grew more and more by killing and devouring people, the tattoos from her arms spread more to symbolize the amount of crimes that she has committed. [8] Akaza once battled Kokushibo for his position as Upper Rank One but was defeated. Despite most challengers being absorbed by the victor after losing, she was spared because Kokushibo enjoyed the battle [9] Akaza's hobby is training herself, which she does in her free time. [10] Akaza can converse with demons telepathically and share visions with demons who rank lower than herself (to the extent Muzan will allow).

Akaza is a muscular young woman of average height. Her skin is very fair, with a subtle greenish tint, and adorned with a pattern of thick blue lines that resemble the criminal tattoos she had as a human. She has short cerise hair that fluffs out around her head, and inward‑tilting yellow eyes with cerise eyelashes and blue sclera that somewhat resemble cracked glass.

The kanji for Upper Rank (上弦, Jōgen) is etched into her right iris, and the kanji for Three (参, San) is etched into her left.

Blue lines decorate her face and body:

on the face — curving around each eye from below the ears to over the temples, plus a line from the hairline to the bridge of the nose; around the neck and torso — three lines forming a pattern around the neck, with one extending down the chest to the stomach and two branching to the sides over the chest; repeated three‑line pattern around the waist; on the arms — lines running from the shoulders down to the wrists, encircling the biceps; fingers, toes, fingernails, and toenails — dark blue with orange nails. bandages covering her chest (replacing the open upper garment for moderation); a short, sleeveless dark purple‑pink haori cut off at the waist, featuring a square pattern on the back; baggy white pants rolled to just below the knee; a turquoise rope belt with bright pink tassel ornaments at the front and back; chains of large, round red pearls around her ankles. She prefers to go barefoot.

Akaza is a headstrong and stubborn woman driven by an obsessive need to become stronger. She thrives in battle and genuinely admires powerful opponents, often praising their skills and techniques. She looks down on weakness and firmly believes in the idea that the strong should prevail over the weak.

She respects strength above all else and insists on learning the names of formidable foes, memorizing them as a tribute to their prowess. When she recognizes notable skill in a warrior, she offers them the chance to become a demon—in her view, this preserves their refined abilities rather than letting them fade with age. While she acknowledges strength regardless of a person’s past, she sees her fellow Upper Ranks as rivals; she is particularly antagonistic toward those ranked above her. Her resolve is unshakable: she pushes through pain and even the most lethal injuries, driven solely by her goal of becoming the strongest.

Akaza’s Blood Demon Art merges her Soryu‑style martial arts with shockwave manipulation. She generates blue (sometimes flashing red) shockwaves from any part of her body and at any distance. These can take multiple forms — invisible air pressure, circular energy waves, or spike‑like projectiles — and she infuses them into her punches and kicks to increase their destructive force.

At the start of combat, she activates her Blood Demon Art with Technique Development (Jutsushiki Tenkai), adopting a Soryu‑style stance to channel her abilities.

Compass Needle (Rashin): She manifests a snowflake‑shaped compass beneath her (with numbers 1–12) that amplifies her perception of a person’s Fighting Spirit. This lets her instinctively target vital points, predict moves, enhance attack precision, and adapt to evolving fighting styles. In dire situations, it can also create temporary energy clones to multiply her shockwave attacks. Air Type (Kūshiki): She punches the air to launch invisible shockwaves at a distance. Her regeneration is tied to her will; she can even control its speed, choosing to slow it down or push it to extreme levels. In her human life as Hakuji, Akaza was just as resilient and determined. Her acts of defiance and crime stemmed from desperation: she sought money to buy medicine for her sick father. She bore beatings and hardship without breaking, willing to endure years of suffering if it meant her father could recover. She also cared for Koyuki (Now its him), nursing him back to health despite having no prior connection to him, and put his well‑being before her own desires.

After becoming a demon, Akaza lost her memories of this past life. The aspects that remain are twisted reflections of her former self: her martial arts style is rooted in the Soryu technique her teacher Keizo taught her, and her attack names reference fireworks—a promise she once made to Kayuki. However, without the original context or emotional connection, these elements exist only as fragments embedded in her abilities. Her belief in social Darwinism and her hatred of weakness are now her core identity, untainted by any lingering sense of her earlier noble intentions.
